Default CHP Using LIDAR Big Time

Holy cr8p! Has anyone driving San Jose to Santa Cruz freeways noticed the sharp increase in CHP sting operations in the past 2 weeks?!? Last week on the 101 South, at around 10 AM, approaching Salinas, they had 6 or 7 cars and motorcycles pulling people over, with just one LIDAR! A day earlier I saw the same thing between Gilroy and Sand City!

Watch out for the freeway overpasses, that's where they like to post up and point their LIDAR guns at you. The gun has a usable range of at least a hundred yards, but I slow down as soon as I see a bridge even a mile away, until I can see that there's no CHP standing on it.

Just a couple days ago, they were also on 280 North around the Bascom exit.

yeah, this was in the news a little while ago. I think pretty much all CHP are switching to LIDAR? Meaning, our radar detectors do us no damn good. There is this one model I heard about that will detect LIDAR, but only after it's already been used on you so that thing is pretty much useless also. Thanks for the heads up though.

Last time I saw a group w/LIDAR was on 280 near 92 exit.

What the heck is LIDAR? Is it the same as Laser? If so, there are several products out there that can detect and jam laser. Here's what I have: http://www.lidatek.com/specs.html

Yeah, they got me last week on Capital Expressway in San Jose. I'm fighting mine on a few technicalities though... wish me luck!

What technicalities are you fighting? Laser technology is supposed to be very accurate.Anyway, Good luck!

I've used Lidar and Radar, Lidar Rules. Also Lidar works further than 100 yards! Only thing I don't like is you have to aim and use the cheek method, whereas Radar is point and just shoot.

Instant on is a *****!

Best defense: DON'T SPEED!

Alternatively, You can put a bra on the front of your car. They suck for the car's finish, but I read that it can increase your reaction time, because it reduces the amount of reflective surface for the laser or radar to reflect off of. Also, Veil stealth coating, is good for your headlights, front plates, etc. It absorbs laser, also giving you a little more reaction time to slow down.

There are other measures you can use, but they will begin to get costly. such as new radar detector, active laser jamming, etc.

I'm not fighting the accuracy of the laser. I'm fighting the accuracy of the officer. The officer put down the location of the violation as where he was parked. He was pointing his LIDAR north and got me a good ways away from where he was located. By the time I was at that point, he was already on his motorcycle and coming in behind me. There was no way for him to know what my speed was then usung the LIDAR. I've used this strategy before and it has worked twice and failed once. Had he wrote something like... Between Story and Foxdale on Capital or even N. of Foxdale on Capital. There would be no wiggle room, but when police are in a hurry... Mistakes get made.

The thing I hate is having to pay the fine before you can fight it. I feel that if you win, the city should also pay you back the interest they made on your money while it was sitting in their account. That's what a lot of people don't understand. Win or lose, the city has still made money off of you.

V-1 can detect it, after you get tagged!

Here, in BC, Laser can't be used. Imagine my surprise when I go to Seattle to find the ol' Escort making noises I've never heard of. Yes, I got Lasered outside of Seattle. You guys have to get rid of that shiat, so I can speed in the states again!!
