that sucks... that happened to me once... luckily i had ample room to move my slightly forward and the fact that he was the one encroaching the driveway.... i did check for dents and scratches before i left.... should have stayed and wait to see who was the idiot....

None of the dent yet, but it IS there. Not huge, but it IS there. The driver has yet to come out to his car and see the note I left for him, so no updates yet.
As for those suggesting keying or similar - I don't believe in that stuff - its not productive and doesn't fix my car and doesn't make me feel better, so I see no point in doing it. Hopefully the cost he will incur in fixing my bumper will be suffcient future deterrent.
And yes, its in SF. But I still wouldn't live anywhere else

I had the same thing happen to me, I decided to take the z to six flags and I came out only to a P.O.S. Ford Escort parked honestly right on my bumper, I was furious! I gave him a little taste of my mind, throwing all my garbage all over his car and a few lugies here and there, then I reparked the car far far away from him..

People actual bump cars to parallel park! I saw this the other day while having lunch. sat there and watched this guy consciously back into the spot till he felt the bump, then pulled foward. People ar friggin ignorant. I would have let the air out of his tires.
Just wait, get pics of his license plate and also go get another pic from behind showing his license plate so he can't refute that it was his car that is touching yours and messed up your bumper. (if you don't have it.) Then you can get his insurance involved.

Also, just from looking at the pics... check out the right side of his front bumper. Looks like major scrapage to me.. in other words, I doubt this guy even cares about his car. Doesn't mean he has a right to treat other people's property the same way though.
I hope you get money out of this guy to fix your car. I used to live in SF and I can understand how tough it is to find parking. If s/he doesn't pay up, then you will call your insurance guy. But it may be hard to prove that he bumped into you. S/he will probably say you backed into her. Any way, good luck.

I was in Oakland once on College Ave going to Zachary's...this was when I had my S2000, I was actually IN my car when some moron bumped my car backing up. I hopped out and yelled at him...he just shrugged and gave me a "it's just a car" look. I noticed that he had the SF parking stickers on his POS Honda Civic Sedan...no surprise. No damage to my car...but I deflated all of his tires anyway.
Have fun waiting for the tow truck moron.
But to the OP: Yeah man...people just don't care...bottom line. People who buy Saturns, Camrys, and Hyundais just don't care because cars are simply transporation for them...

This reminds me of a time I parked my car in my campus parking. Someone was kind enough the keep pulling forward until the broke my license plate. My car has been in that parking spot before 7am seeing as how I had a 7am – 11am class then lunch from 11am – 1pm, followed by more classes.
When I head out for lunch is when I found out this car broke my plates, I took pictures and everything. I was going to wait for this person to come out and confront them (when it broke my plate, it bent the 2 inch screws so basically f’ing my bumper with those mounts).
So I ate lunch waiting for someone to claim the car when a cop pulls up, gets out of his car, and scares the living crud outta me by almost breaking my glass by beating on it was the dang stick. I calmly roll down the window and ask the cop what the problem is. I was informed by him that he should write me a ticket for “hit and run”. (At this point I am so lost right now, I have no clue what hes talking about). I asked him whys that he told me because I hit this young ladies car and failed to report it. (WHAA!!!???) She came in at 10am reporting I hit her car (from what I was told, she had it all in the right places).
I told him, she hit my car, and my car has been in the parking lot since before 7am and its on video (then pointed to the camera). He then informed me the camera didn’t work, it’s a fake one (yeah college security) and I should not lie. I told him if I moved (10 am) it recently seeing as I travel 40+ miles to check under the hood for heat. His reply was “quit being a smart ***, I am just gonna give you a warning, I could arrest you if you wish.” Then asked if she did hit me, why did I not report it.
A. I just got to my car 20 mins ago and was looking for the owner
B. I don’t have breast so you guys would have told me “We don’t take that kind of report, settle it with the owner” (As I have tried reporting people running in my car before.)
This Irving PD was ticked off. I then asked him if I have done anything wrong, he said no and I said good bye then and rolled up my window.
Long story short, why cant people park right. And when they f’ up why cant they just admit it. All I was planning on having the car owner do is find a way to attach my plates if they fessed up. Looking back not the best way to handle the local PD but this guy got to me. I didn’t do squat and he wasn’t gonna take my story because I didn’t have two milk jugs on my chest.
(FYI, made a cop as an enemy for life. He used to always go around sniffing my car for something illegal or wrong and follow me out of class all the time to the city limits)
