[Sacramento]: Sacramento Z Owners
I did. I need something local. 100 miles radius. Paying for shipping usually kills it
Hey Alex, just be patience and you'll find what you want. It took me quite a while for me to find some cheap wheels. I know what you mean. I don't want to pay for shipping either.
The other forum is not as active as this one. my350z.com used to be really popular.. but many of us no longer own a Z.. its up to you guys not to make this forum active. Ive seen many Z around sac now... Had to let go on mine.. Was tired of donating to the chp department
Wondering if anyone has used these shops and/or has recommendations in Sacramento for service, custom body, custom engine, etc. Any good? Know what they are doing, etc?
I have found:
1) http://drivenauthority.com/
2) http://www.drivingambition.us/index.html
3) http://www.midnightperformance.com/
4) http://sacautoexpressions.com/index.html

kip and mat at driven authority anly do Zs so you should start with them
Driven authority does good work. Kip installed my mrev2 and rolled my fenders. If you're looking for body work or paint done driven authority is right next door to TNT Autobody they do excellent body and paint
I highly, highly recommend Driving Ambition.
IMO, they are the hands down best speed shop in Sacramento, if not NorCal.
The "about us" page on their website pretty much tells you everything you need to know about the level of skill in the people there. These guys actually prep high level PROFESSIONAL race cars there. Everything from AutoX cars, to Spec Miata's, to Kip Olson's touring class winning red NSX.
I'm having my an Oil Cooler put in there as soon as the cooler arrives in a week or so. Also, many of my track going friends also have had anything from track prep to F/I builds done there.
Most important, they are fair with the labor prices, and I've seen the owner (Shad) openly advise people against unnecessary work, even if it means costing his business a sale. He's a straight shooter.
Here's some pics from an "NSX meet" held a Driving Ambition earlier this year.

One more thing... just thought I would share what I found at Driving Ambition when I was there a couple weeks ago. A pretty impressive customer car:

I kno, I kno, my camera phone takes crappy pics

I actually not sure what it was there for. I asked who it belonged to and was told it was a customers car.
I promptly moved on to the reason I was there... I'm all about myself like that.

At this point, a GTR w/ an oil cooler wouldn't surprise me.
BTW, I'm going to pick up my GTM OC from the fedex depot tomorrow.
I'll have it over at Driving Ambition for the install on Friday.

Because I have no aspirations of being a mechanic. I only turn wrenches because I'm cheap and it keeps me competing. It's not something I really enjoy.
I just finished doing all of my suspension and brake work... but the most I ever wanna do in that super cramped engine bay is a tune-up ...when I have to start digging down in there to drill mounting holes and the like, I'd rather just pay the pros. The aggrivation I'm saving myself is worth it to me.
Plus, I have a Driving Ambition gift certificate

Hey guys, just in case you have not seen this thread…. https://my350z.com/forum/northern-ca...-sat-11am.html ..it's gotten HUGE (39 cars signed up to date) on sign ups for SAC BBQ Meet next Sat 10/10/09 11:00 am in Natomas.
Come out and supports the Sac Z Community, we only have about 8 Z's signed up. It’s a quess-ti-mate for those that are counting beans...haha
So pass the word and come out, prolly be the last BIG Meet of the year in our own backyard.
