Thunderhill Open Track Day March 21, 2008 (GGLC $165)
Since I run 17's, I have found 255's to be the best choice to stay in TTC. Not sure what is readily available in 18's. I'm not that much slower on the narrower tire, perhaps due to better gearing and lighter weight.
Not sure if you need to take 4 for the spl fronts and another 4 for the rears since the rears are not control arms. If you're just into TTB it might not matter.

I think lap times were 2:08s-2:10s
I was on Nitto NT01 in 275/35/18 size on 18x9.5 wheels. I think Don was on 265/35/18 on 18x9.5 with Pirelli(not sure what tire model, but R-comps as well)

Pirelli Corsa. They stick well but their break-away is not very progressive. Once traction is lost, they go quick. I don't know how many times I loose traction like I did on that video between T11 and T13. I don't have that much confidence in them, and feel like I need to be on the alert, but I really think they stick well when used within the proper slip angles. They also have a stiffer sidewall than the RA1's, so they feel a bit more solid.
I found out that some F430's and some 997GT3RS's come stock with them. Beats the hell out of me why anyone would drive on the street with these unforgiving tires.

right on, thanks guys. I have some r888's I just picked up so those will be my first set of r-comps so I'm just feeling people out for info at this point.

It was my first time on them and first time on R-comps. They felt way better towards the end of the day when they had worn down a bit vs when they had full thread. I can see why people shave them when competing.
They also have a stiff side wall but I still got shoulder wear because I was running stock camber settings front and rear. I just got an ailgnment yesterday so I'll find out how they perform this weekend at buttonwillow with some proper camber.
Grip is a whole other level with R-Comps though. I'm glad a did a few events on street tires though, because as others mention, when the R-comps begin to go, you are going at greater speeds.
The NT01s were very easy to control when sliding, and at no point did I feel them doing anything unexpected. The only down side, I would say, is that they brought out all the flaws in the stock suspension. I also stiffened up the sway bars one setting front/back since I got way more body roll with these tires.
Daveh has run them as well and he might have some better info.

Yes, I am using the NT01's this year and I really like them. -Probably because they feel like the RA1's that I've been using for years..
Since they come at 6/32nd's they don't squirm so much out of the box like the toyos do. My toyos used to gain 2 seconds per lap as they wore in, and when I switched over to the Nittos, my lap times were roughly the same as they werw with my worn toyos. I expect my times to drop another second as they wear down, so ultimately I'm estimating the NT01's to be about a second faster than my RA1's. Can't comment on the wear yet since I've only had them out for a few days.

I registered for TTC before I figured out I was at 20pts. I emailed Kevin, and he said he would change that at the track when I gave him theother forms and not to worry about it. I guess that's why he didn't update that sheet...

If that burgundy 06 that's registered is the same Z that was at Krauss racing, that's a really nice Z. It's a full race car though, with roll cage, stripped interior, Moton Coilovers, BBK and a GTM built engine with a JWT TT.

Brandon Kraus was doing the owner a favor and checking out the car's set up and giving advice. He was doing sub 2 minutes in that car (Thill with bypass) and he wasn't really pushing it since it wasn't his car. I think Brandon said he was hitting 140 down the front straight. The thing had 19" hoosiers too.
Motons are too much for me. I'll go with ohlins most likely though.
