Curiousity: What is "unfriendly" about your car?

BTW, on another forum that I moderate, these types of posts get removed - site liability...

thats why i wanted pm's only, dont want anyone getting in trouble. my car is "unfriendly" for a ridiculous reason. my PNP switch is broken at the connector on the main ECU harness, so it will throw a code just before the monitors are ready. already failed once for it. really makes me angry, passed the gas section no problem even without a cat, but failed cause monitors not ready, stupid CA

How much is a new switch? Most "friendly" smog places charge a "premium".

its the connector on the harness, so i would need a new harness, lookin at 300+ since ive yet to find a place that will let me take just the connector. at this point im just trying to figure all my options, im hoping that i can wire (bailing wire, lol) the connector tightly to the sensor and it will stay, in which case the $45 retest will be welcome

Have you tried the dealer to see if they can get the connector for you? Im sure those guys break plastic connectors every now and then and don't replace wire harnesses. That would be too costly for them. Its worth a try if you haven't already and Im sure it will be allot cheaper for you.
