Default Has anyone gotten ticket for missing front plate?

I noticed there are at least 5% of vehicles out there do not have front plates. I know the front plate is required by California law.

Let's share where you get your warning/ticket.

I have heard that the sfpd is pretty agressive about no front plate. can you just pay the ticket everytime you get one or do they need to see one on there after you get the ticket.

Front plate is lthe law in CA. Last time I got one was 4-5 years ago. At that time it was like $10-$15 fix it ticket + you had to mount the plate and have it signed off by an officer. Still anticipating my first one in the Z.

My front bumper is not drilled. In case I get pulled over <touch wood>, can i say "Officer, I can't mount the plate because I bought the car like this".

I actually did something similar in my last car. I had installed a new nose piece. After a year of driving around with the new nose I finally got pulled over for no plate. I told the cop that I had just recently replaced the nose piece on the car and that the paint was still curing. Told him I didn't want to drill until I was sure the paint was completely cured. He said "I'll let you go this time but next time I see you there better be a front plate on the car." Luckily he didn't examine the bumper or he would have seen the small chips from pebbles

they gave me a fix it ticket. i just had the ticket signed off and paid the $10 fine. but the cop that issued me the ticket said that the first violation is a fix it tix and any additional front plate violations will result in a higher fine ($60- $100). don't know if the cop was truthful or just trying to scare me, but i guess i'm just gonna risk it. so far i've been able to avoid that cop, being that he knows where i work and i'm the only ss z in that area. now that i said that, i have a strong feeling that i'm gonna get pulled over.

Don't forget that parking maids can also give you citations for not having front plates. I got a few that way with my old car. I didn't want to go through the same hassle with the Z so I mounted my front plates on the grill. Three bucks well spent to avoid annoying tickets.

No, mine was a cop in a crown vic. i've only been pulled over by a bike cop once. and this was a bicycle not a motorcycle. it was so embarassing. this was at sfsu.

that must have been an on campus bicycle cop We have them here at SSU too (ours carry 18 shot 9mm glocks just in case though). where you in your car? that WOULD be embarassing If there are no picturees of it you will probably be ok!
I had lots of sf bike cops tag me when I used to act really stupid. the black and whites didn't seem to care unless they were traffic safety cops. there were major thursday night races on brotherhood drive in those days. guess I will buy one of those grill mounted plate holders for a sign off if i get tagged.

My work is across the street from the CHP, so it's a bit risky not to have a front license plate.

I got a ticket while the car was parked in a Park&Ride parking lot.

Had to put it on, have a cop sign off that it was on, and pay a $15 or $20 admin fee.
