Default UR pulleys

Guys (and girls )- I have a brand new, unused set of UR Pulleys in Red (crank pulley and 2 underdrive pulleys) for sale along with the belts. I purchased these just last week but decided not to install them on my car. I figured I'd offer them to the NorCal members before putting them in the classified section. PM for details if you are interested.

$340. Keep in mind that this also includes the belts which must be purchased separately. Belts and pulleys are both brand new and have no been installed- only had them for two days.

Can ship to you (at no cost) or bring them to the meet.

Yeah, man. Why aren't you installing them? I already bought mine, but was wondering if you heard something that I should be apprehensive of.... (before I go ahead with the install)...

I honestly don't feel comfortable installing them. As was discussed in the engine forum- the stock crank pulley is dampened, the UR is not. Whether this will create a long term problem is not yet known. I discussed the pulleys with my mechanic at length yesterday. His thought is that the pulleys should be fine for daily driving but if you drive the **** out of your car (like I occationally do ) there is a potential for problems down the road. Has this been proven- No. However if the UR Pulleys do create a problem chance are we won't see it for a while- this isn't something that will happen in weeks or months. I just felt that a 5-7 hp wasn't worth the potential long term risk.

This is simply a personal opinion. You should each make your own individual choice as there are currently many happy UR customers. Again nothing has been proven, it's just a personal decision.

I'm still trying to figure out why UR didn't dampen their pulley since the stock pulley is dampened. Cost is the only thing I can think of- but I can't imagine it being too much more to add some dampening to the pulley. There is also some debate as to whether the crank is dampened internally. I don't think anyone has been able to get to the bottom of this.

Boy did I just sell you guys on those pulleys or what?

vq's are balanced internally, the factory pulleys don't even have dampers.

maxima guys run the vq's and have been running these for quite a long time now and have not had any problems.

i wouldn't worry about it.

Vic- The VQ engine is balanced but this is not a question of balance. It's a question of harmonic dampening. The stock crank pulley does have a harmonic dampener whereas the UR does not. See N74VD thread:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....ulley+dampened

This is a topic that will probably never be solved. If you have anything to prove this incorrect please let me know. I would love to put these things on but, as mentioned, I'm not willing to take the risk for a <10hp gain.

So Vic are you ready to buy my UR pulleys yet?

Can't really feel a difference other than the revs seem a tad bit quicker.
