Sorry to hear about your mother's passing, Ed,
For a few that may not know Ed, it's understandable, don't worry about it. But I do know him, he's always done photo shots on my annual "Carmel Valley/Pebble Beach Run", and this year of course the "Treasure Iland Run" not to mention all the other runs. He's the "photo man" and a great friend. Personally I consider him family, as we both have a family background of the same country. No doubt Ed is at the Internet cafe in PI emailing back, as I did in July when I was there for a month. Found the posted bbq, and signed up as I'm definitely coming and will see everybody there then.
(And thanks for the tel call, or I might have missed out on it).

Hi everyone!
So I'm back in the Bay Area last Tuesday (Oct.27) and the sudden change in weather made my life more miserable for it gave me cough and colds. On top of that, I have to work the next day. Lucky me, didn't experience any jet lag at all after the grueling 18-hour flight, whew...
I was able to talk to my stepdad and my aunts regarding the bill. It sucks to know when hospital wouldn't release the death certificate if the bill hasn't been paid up, which amounted to almost $8k. In turn, the funeral parlor wouldn't go through the cremation if they don't have the death certificate on hand. That would mean adding an extra day at the wake. That's $106/day in addition to the $425 package which incl 3 days in the chapel, cremation and food for the guests. So my stepdad pawned off our house to come up with cash.
It is so much expensive to die in Manila knowing only well-off people can afford health and life insurance.
So I thank you all those who unselfishly and unconditionally donated their hard-earned money. Every dollar would be wisely spent on my Mom's death. And to all those who prayed and expressed their sympathies, my deepest gratitude.
