Default Thunderhill Tuesday 5/11

If anyone can get off of school/work on Tuesday, there will be a fantastic track opportunity with LOTS of track time. There are only 27 cars currently, and this is a TWO run group format in 30 minute sessions. That's 4 hours of on-track driving - it will be intense. It's a cheap event, so get to it. There are two 350Zs, a 370, and a GT-R representing Nissan.

Alternatively, but not nearly as fun, if you feel like head up to T-hill for some ride-alongs, please do so. We'll be there about 7am.

I wish I could take the day off to go. Out of curiosity, do they allow those who haven't tracked before? I'll be up at Thunderhill end of next month with NCRC's driving school group.

It looks like this specific (2 run group) event wouldn't be for a complete beginner, but most clubs that run 3 or 4 run groups do allow those that have never tracked. I may go June 25th with them.

Thinking about it, but haven't pulled the trigger yet since we'll be there 6/4 as well (also still open for registration).

The weather looks like it is going to be fantastic tomorrow. Some showers tonight, but clearing up for a sunny, 72F day!

If you are on the fence about it and need a little bit of a shove, Rob (ZCG) just had to cancel, so his spot could be taken for a fair price.

Yeah, I tried to make that event but couldn't swing it. This event is $130-150 for eight 30 minute sessions. That's at least double the time of a typical event. Prepping my camera now!

I'm guessing you are going over the cyclone right about now...

Are you attending the autox this Saturday? Same time and location right?

It was a blast today at thunderhill. Congratulation on Scott did a 2:05 on the final run. It was insane!

By the way, my event on 6/4 Friday 3 run groups thunderhill event is officially full. If any Z guys want to run, PM me directly. I maybe able squeeze in a few just for the Z (only).

At 11am I indeed was going over the cyclone! Yup, autox on Saturday this month instead of Sunday because of the Duel at DeAnza. All same.

Yes, what a fantastic day! Thanks for riding along on the last session. I logged 260 miles on the track, that's at least 80 laps! I never thought the Z could run that fast, my goal was to "break 2:10 one day", and you and I did that in the first session (that I timed, 2:09.8x).

Congrats on filling up your event, that's awesome! I think ZCG Rob is on the fence about the event. I'll put him in contact with you directly if he wants to join. How many are in each of your RGs?

Haha - I wish!
I spoke with John Morton at Big Willow years ago, and he said it took him 10,000 laps to master it. Wow! I figure I have less than 2,000 laps in total at all tracks over my entire HPDE career.

I didn't take many pictures, and I need some software to DL then UL my vids, but here is what I have:

Patrick zooming by:

My best time before lunch:

My first 2:05:

The base for the Hot Lapper was moved, so I had to get a photo of the RaceLogic data for the 2:05.6 run. It's hard to see up in the corner, but it's there:

This is the 911 I was playing with:

I couldnt break 2'10 anymore in the afternoon, my car turns in feel slow, and rear end was unstable. I will try to make some adjustment before 6/4 and try again. But seriously, I need to get a lap timer like yours, so I can see my improvement.

It has about 25 cars in each run group now. But do let me know if Rob still want to come. Love to see more Z on the track!

I am sure you have stated it before, but what is your suspension, brake, wheel/tire, and power level? Just curious.

I doubt many people caught that.

It's the autox at DeAnza College in Cupertino. I think it's the 42nd annual one, should be fun.

it seems like the 911 is missing some of the apexs. such as turn 6, not close enough on 8, and 9.

nice driving scott, wicked fast.
