Default April Hearst Castle Meet

Hey Jason, can you sticky this?
Ok, with Bruce's ring around the bay 2 in March, track day in May, and Coast drive down to SD in June/July, I figure I throw something in the mix by doing another California interest spot meet in April This time I promise to be a little bit more organized.
I'm still finalizing some of the details, the exact date to be specific. It will take an entire Saturday for sure. I'll post something similar in the So-Cal region to see if anyone want to take up the planning for the meet up at Hearst Castle.

Go here for more info on Hearst Castle:
http://www.hearstcastle.org/

Basic Itin. for now (to be modify to better fit schedule):
1. Meet in South Bay by 101 -- AM
2. Drive down to Monterey/Carmel for lunch -- Noon
3. Drive down to Hearst Castle on Hwy 1 -- early afternoon
4. Do the tour at Hearst Castle.
5. See Otter and Seals make out.
6. Drive back up Hwy1
7. Stop by Monterey/Carmel for Dinner
8. Race home on 101

Since Hwy1 from Montery to Hearst Castle is very twisty, I figure we can take the easier path down/back on 101 instead of 17.

Dave, remember... RATB2 is Mar 27th and ZCar Nationals is on the week of Apr 23rd-25th... so this has to be in between... might be a little soon from one to another but keep us updated...

So many meets, so little time...

I'm undecided on the Hearst meet at this point. I do want to go though... schedule permitting.

If you go on the 18th than some of us can ride down with every-one and then stay down for Z-car NAT'L week ----OR--- If on the 25th ,we that are down there already can meet SO. CAL group and ride up to H.C. then drive up to MONt.--carmel with you have dinner & race up 101 with you all.

Default Saturday April 17th

ok, from looking at all the post of events. I'm tentatively going to set it on the Saturday April 17th. Thus this doesn't conflict with Z national on 25 and Easter Weekend on the 11th. Also, this gives folks some rest from RATB2 or oportunity for those going down to Z bbq on the weekend of the 3rd.

Also, this is the first weekend after tax day!! Woo hoo, so no stressing on still trying to get your taxes done... so Moodie, no excuses!!

I'm going to start the list again. Please put a confirmed or tentative after you name so I can get a better count and plan accordingly. Also, if there is a specific restuarant you would like to go to in the montery/carmel or certain budget you like to spend for food, please post or pm me. If the group become as large as last time, we might split it up in to 2 or 3 groups/restaurant so everyone will get their food faster. Anyways, depending what the general consensus is, we can have
1. Nice sit down lunch, fast food dinner.
2. Fast food lunch, nice sit down dinner.
3. Nice sit down lunch/dinner. (Ballers!!! )
4. Fast food lunch/dinner.

Anyways, here is the list. Make sure you put Confirmed or Tentative and Meal choice.
1. Whatever (Confirmed) (1)
2.

wow, considering the distance, we might have a pretty good turn out!!

RIE, where are you? we need you to help plan the SoCal side!!!

ok, here are more info on Hearst Castle if you haven't checked out the website.

there are 5 tours through out the day.
1. Experience tour
2. upper floors of Casa Grande
3. North Wing of Casa Grande
4. Garden Tour
5. Evening Tour

Due to our schedule, we won't be able to to do the evening tour. For those that never been there, I would recommend the Experience tour. I actually been on the experience tour twice now, so I might try one of the other ones schedule permitting. Each tour duration is 1 hr 45 mins.
Anyways, start looking at this link for tour info:
http://www.hearstcastle.org/tours/tour_1.asp
and decide on which tour you would like to do. I'm going to leave it up to you folks to secure your own tour tickets this time since not everyone will be doing the same tour. I'm sure we can find them occuring concurrently or schedule them close enough so that people won't be waiting too long.
I will keep posting to this thread as I finalize the plan...

I would but got the relatives coming in late April and they want to go see it. Though I guess with all the tours we wouldn't see the same stuff... hmmm. People who have been have advice?
