hum... check with Brandon. His gf is Japanese. I'm sure she's fluent....

I would help, but my Japanese is pretty rusty... after 5-6 years of not using it except to watch anime and AV....

Oh yeah, you can also try bablefish. It seems to work ok, but some translation might come out funny..

Yuichi, what's your other half, if not Japanese? And yes, I was about to open a can of whup ash on you for not knowing Japanese.

It's been a while for me, too, but I've been using what I know of Japanese to point out mistranslations in the HK release of Initial D.

Are you sure? Can't you pitch it as a way for people to bond?

Yeah, I agree. Except that you can't use the word "tentacles" all too often though...

I am actually trying to learn some Japanese now (taking classes at foothill) but I doubt my vocabulary of 100 or so words would help much.

I took classes from Foothill too! Although I think that Foothill courses go too fast. Whatever I learned from there is long gone.

I'm yonsei (4th generation Japanese), I only know how to read hiragana, a little of katakana, and very little kanji. So, I am of no use either.

Yuchi what is the other half?

Ahh, but katakana is so much easier though... (the resemblance to English words, I guess ) I can translate hiragana and katakana fluently, but comprehend maybe 10% of what I read. Some kanji here, but forgetting more by the day as I don't ever use it

For some reason, I kept thinking that you were Samoan or something...

Samoan? Nah, my ID is actually Hawaiian, I'm from Hawaii (Manoa to be exact :P), so....there are alot of Japanese peeps there.

Katakana and Hiragana are easy... Kanji is too much. Man, leave it to the Japanese to have not only one writing style, but 3!!! I don't think I'll ever master the language unless I move back to the homeland LOL

I studied 3 semesters at Cal, but it all devolved after that. Whenever we had skits, I always played the drunk cuz I wanted to slur my words and not use teinei form. "Urusei!"
