Default San Rafael Nissan closed

San Rafael Nissan closed down! Damn them because I made an appointment on Wednesday for getting my drivers side window fixed but there were all gone. I was told that a few days ago they just gave everyone their last paychecks and closed. The lady across the street was saying the owner could have been embezzling money or something. Anyhow it was a wasted 2 hours driving up and back.

Now I'm at Serramonte trying to get my stuff fixed and the guys seem pretty cool and willing to take care of me.

Hmm... haven't needed to visit a dealer yet, but I had SR Nissan as the dealer in mind that I was going to use for service. Any suggestions for good dealerships near or around Marin and/or Contra Costa counties?

Hey Brian;

You're only about 30 seconds from Hanlee's. Have you heard something negative about their service?

I'm going over in the morning to talk to Joe about the latest feathering TSB. (Trying for new front tires). You busy?

Tim

Hey Tim,

Actually I hadn't heard anything plus or minus about Hanlees, but I was wondering if anyone here has any particular recos available (I've heard so many glowing reports about SR Nissan that I was going to go there, and I could visit my parents as well since I would be in the county). I did have one experience with Hanlees when I had to purchase some coolant... the dealership was under renovation and relocation or something to the like. Seemed like a bunch of young guys worked there, but that's all I have for grounds of basis. I'll await your reply to see if they get my business

Good luck with the TSB, bring in a printed copy of the PDF if they give you trouble.

I'd go with you man, but I'm still at work

Brian

i think hanlees is probably okay.... i went there once to get my rear axle re=seated.... they were pretty straight forward. The renovation is pretty annoying but not that big of a deal. The guys there are fairly young and seem pretty cool... but I couldn't say for sure. Let us know what happens Tim.

Yobri, you really don't want to go to Freeman in SR for service IMHO. After they attempted to fix an oil leak then screwing it up a second time (car out of service for more then a week) I had it towed down to North Bay Nissan in Petaluma. Been going there ever since. I only deal with the Service Mgr. and get more personal service and respect.

Thanks zwindsor... I thought about the further northern dealers, now I know which ones to avoid

Hopefully someone will buy the dealership and settle up. Not having a Nissan dealership in Marin will hurt NNA sales.

I liked SF Nissan and they had good service for me. Johnny the tech there owns a z and he swapped out my tranny so for me I enjoyed their service.

Anything around Hilltop I'd stay away from though.

So you recommend Ellis Brooks, huh Henry? I bought my Z from them, but they aren't open on weekdays for service which makes it difficult for me to service with them.

Hey, got the pocket roster. Thanks

oops, I meant to say SR Nissan. Typo.

NP . . . glad you got it. You just got to trim the edges b/c after cutting up 30 of them, I got too lazy.

I've actually had decent service from Hanlees. I generally deal with Joe DeOrian. He's the assistant service manager. Met with him Saturday on the feathering issue. Brought him the TSB along with a letter I'd sent to NNA. He's going to check on the tire replacement and call me tomorrow. I'll post an update.

I thought about you when I posted earlier, your the only person I have talked to that bought their car from hilltop. And to be fair, I have not dealt with the hilltop service dept so I'll take your word for it, but their sales dept is SHAY-DEE!!!!

The sales/finance dept there I delat with were like something out of a movie or TV show, just every stereotype you can think up of shady salespeople, tried to rip me off twice and I was WORKING FOR THEM!! Beware!

Hey Jeremy;

Now that you mention it......

I didn't buy my Z at Hanlee's. When Nissan announced the pre-order program, I went in and asked a salesperson what they were selling for. The guy said, "$26,000." I said, "you mean I can drive out of here with a Z for $26,000?" He said, ".....plus a $10,000 market adjustment."

I ended up buying the Z in my hometown in Illinois.

A week later, I found out Hanlee's got the "word" from Nissan and was taking pre-orders at sticker. It costs me a grand to have my Z shipped back to California when I could have paid the same price from a dealership I can almost see from my house.
