Default Z Car Garage

I left my Redline 350Z at Z Car Garage on Wednesday for many minor mods. Today I picked my car up complete. They installed:
-Ultimate Racing High Flow Catalytic Converters
-Nismo Low Temperature Thermostat
-Nismo Power Steering Cooler
-Nismo Rear Differential Heat Soak

In addition, they performed my 15K service and topped off all my fluids (gas included). I was very impressed with the installation. The cats were installed and checked for leaks and clearance. The entire exhaust was also inspected for alignment. Ultimate Racing Cats have great built quality and fit perfectly, but snug according to Rob. They sound great too.

Z Car also seems to have the rear diff heat soak installation down to a science. They completed the install in 2 hours.

I also got a test ride in a Greddy TT Silver Track 03 that just got finished. Wow, that is one beast. The car runs a smooth a stock. Pulls harder than anything I have been in. After the test ride I could not help feel my Z was inferior. I have a bundle of mods primarily for reliability once I track my Z. "You can't win a race you can't finish." Getting my work and maintenance done at Z Car Garage will ensure my car will make it past the finish line.

Do you know how much time they charged for the thermostat?
Thanks for sharing!

1 hour for the Nismo Low Temp Thermostat

It is definitely worth the 1 hour. The install is a very difficult DIY because it replaces the entire housing. The service manual required many steps and bleeding the coolant system too.

Default Z Car Garage Rocks!

Just bought a used Borla TD exhaust off of Donna's Z (DP Z33, Rob's other half), and Rob offered to install it, since it was going to be a PITA install. It is much tougher to install the used exhausts, since all the joints have been tweaked a bit from install/uninstall and all the thermal cycles.

So anyway, Rob, Dan, and Rico just installed it this afternoon, and it was really tough to get on, but they did and excellent job! Sealed all the joints and everything. Only took about an hour, as well. Would have taken me many days on my back in the garage! These guys are true Z fanatics, and I would definitely go there for any type of install on the Z. They also have a lot of F/I install experience.

So give them your business!

PS. The Borla rocks! Sounds awesome and I felt a power difference right away. My first power mod.... I'm hooked.

I was at a 7-11 a few weeks back when someone who worked at Z garage gave me their card. I was wondering if they do supercharger installations and what they charge if you provide the kit. Will give them a call soon.

Borla is not hard at all.

I'm sorry but if you think that's hard then you are a P_S_Y!

Mike,
The new Borla exhaust is an easy install, but the one I got had been tweeked pretty good (still works great), and had been on a supercharged Z. I got a sweet deal on it though. Anyway, there are a lot of joints on the Borla, and it took a LOT of pounding to get everything install properly. It would have been very difficult to do on the ground. Anyway, Rob and the gang did a great job. (They swore they wouldn't ever install a used Borla again though! It was that much of a PITA!)

BrokenGods,
Yep, they know their stuff when it comes to F/I 350Zs. They are probably your best bet to install/tune a S/C in the area.

Last week I had Z Car garage do my Nismo exhaust installation and I was really happy with the work (the exhaust sounds great too). I also was going to have have them install my Kinetix high flow cats but Rob advised against it because the fit wasn't right. They slightly touched the underbody. Many other shops would have just made an adjustment (with hammer) to the cats or the body and forced a fit. That's not professional not to mention how inelegant it would be.

I know many people have said that their Kinetix cats fit without a problem or that they made a "small" modification to get a fit. Maybe because I have a roadster the fit is different. I don't know. Has anyone else with a roadster tried to install these cats?

II'm returning the Kinetix cats for a refund and will be looking for some other solution to the stock cats problem. Any suggestions?
