Hey everyone! The OZOC needs to start doing more than Friday's meets and such so heres a great opportunity! There is a monthly autoX event near lake County (its a drive but...) I just sent them an email making sure it was cool we came as non-members and see if the OZOC could help them out at all.
I think offering a helping hand would be a nice suggestion and showing up with a bunch of cars will also give the OZOC that street cred that we aren't all about all show... no go.. Plus its $20 AutoX.
Here the website: http://www.martinsportscarclub.net/event_info
Big Rich or Lou if its something you think the OZOC should be doing... I think it is... then can we get this stickied? Its not until August so we are giving everyone a month heads-up. We come out with at least 5 cars should be a good day for $20 each.

If I can wake up early enough, I'll be there.
$20 is a great price.
A couple of questions though...what does "Do not drive faster than you want to be hit onsite" mean? Also, what is a hands off brake test, and how strict is their inspection? I don't want to drag myself all the way out there and be told my exhaust is too loud or something. LOL

I went last month, I'll see if I can answer some questions based on experience.
Exhaust too loud? There were a couple cars there like a toyota built for auto-x, it was very loud, didn't have a problem.
Driving fast on site. It means like when youre not in line to run, don't drive fast around the "pit area". The event is on like a parking lot, but there is like a big paved figure 8 with a couple other parts where everyone parks. There are people walking all over and in between cars, so just keep it under 10 I'd say.
The drive there. It's pretty far, but the easiest way is 408 to the turnpike, then north on another road shortly thereever, then some back roads. It is expensive tho, i think its like 4$ each way in tolls alone.
Giving a hand. Everyone who runs has to man one of the 4 turns to fix cones and report an off track if they go around the cone the wrong way, or say if they hit a cone. I think a 'shift' is like 30 mins or so.
Inspection. As far as I know and saw, there was only a 10 mph hands free brake part, just to test the brakes. I really didnt see anything other than that.
and my FYI- Bring WATER!! It's freaking hot out there and with all the cars it can get real hot real fast. Bring sunscrean! I got pretty burned even sticking mostly in the shade. Bring bugspray if you find yourself getting bit a lot. In the shade there were a ton of nosee-ems and i got bit up. And the last of my advice, read about auto-x first and watch some youtube videos. It is a lot harder than it looks and its really easy to get confused with the cones.
let me add that I've never run in the real timed event, but all first timers (and up to 5 times I think) you run in novice class, which is everyone who is new with any car (M6 won novice class last sunday). When you advance, I believe the Z is in B stock (BS on side of car), if you have wider than stock tires, or other mods (read auto-x rulebook) you are in B prepared (BP). This is the same class as S2000's, and last week there was not a single Z present. So bring em out!! I'll be there (not sure if I'm running yet).
