I just got an new 05 enthusiast a couple of days ago, and I am loving it.

Now my questions.

1. Is any of the additional "waranties" worth it? I am talking about things like Security+Plus, or the etching thing they put on the windows, rust proofing, ect.

2. I need a good tint shop. But the problem is, I would like the hatch to be as dark as possible, or at least dark enough so people can't see in the trunk. As I understand it, when the tint is being checked, they only check the windows, so can I get away with a dark hatch? If not, i'll just get the leal tint.

3. If I put an aftermarket head unit, will that void warenty on the entire electrical system or just the sound system? I was going to ask the dealer this when I go back on thursday, but maybe someone here can tell me.

1. Dont know. I didnt get it if that helps you any.

2. Al's Tinting in Aiea. They have new ceramic tints too. They do illegal darkness, but you pay cash and get no reciept (I think). The guy who does my safety check just checks the driver side window, but I suspect if they notice the hatch is alot darker, they may check. I'd just stay legal.

3. I dont know, but I suspect just the stereo components, but you never know what the dealer will try to pull on you.

 

Unless you're planning to keep your Z for more than the standard warranty period, I would say it's not worth it. The window etching and rustproofing are dealer gimmicks. The car has been rustproofed already. Don't fall for that.

 

1. depends on the cost, but I don't have/don't plan on getting one seeing as I doubt I'll have the car for more than 5 yrs. I don't think anyone can really give you much feedback on whether its worth it seeing as only a few ppl have probably hit the extended warranty period. I'd say if you plan on keeping the car for 7-10 yrs and using the vehicle as your daily driver it might be worth it since your A/C, and basic electrical motors will probably need to be replaced within 10 yrs. just make sure you get a warranty that lists "what is excluded" and not "what is covered".

2. I don't really have a shop I recommend, but my tint is illegal all around except for the windshielf of course. but I might go to max legal as its a pain to get a safety check unless you have a friend. plus its not worth the cost of a tint ticket these days...

3. it should only void the warranty on the stereo system...if they want to say that they won't cover something like your power windows b/c of the new head unit then the new head unit needs to be the cause of that problem (which shouldn't be the case as long as whoever installs your head unit does a good job)...

I got a Super Black with the dealer installed swirl marks ,they said they'll fix it, but we'll see.
