Default Y-pipe Q.

I installed my Japtrix Y-pipe and fujsitsubo exhaust a long time ago (thanks again gary!), but it seems to be rubbing or something. I did notice that when I installed my Y pipe it was a rrreaal tight fit and maybe its causing the rest of the exhaust to be misaligned.

If I rid of the brace between the cats will it buy me some room? The distance between the y-pipe flanges was a bit wider than the cat flanges. . .starting to bother me now.

Try flipping the Y-Pipe 180 degree. When I installed it before, I noticed that one way fits better than other.

Dont remove that brace. If it is the same brace that I am thinking of, removing it will cause stress on the headers from the weight of the entire exhaust system flexing and shifting. Eventually in some cases it has caused cracked headers. Those cats are really really heavy and the stress on the system from the weight is substantial.

If you really have too....change the Y-pipe to the Tanabe or Fujitsubo version. The fitment is perfect.

Gary, no sweat man. Maybe I just installed it wrong. At worst I can install some flex in it, try out my father's new welder, haha.

hey al, did you get this fixed? are you talking about the V-brace? if thats the part rubbing you might want to try sticking 3 shims/washers on each of the bolts to give it a little more clearance. if its higher up near the cats, then maybe its the heat shield in which case you'd have to use a hammer or crowbar to bend it a little.
