Default Making a stiffie

So it looks like I'm getting the Hotchkis 3 way adjustable front and rear sway bars, Bullet proof reinforcement bar, ant SVT solid motor mounts.

So what do you think. I know not in the road map bible of my build but I found some deals I cant pass up. Any recomendations on other suspention mods since I've been a straight liner? Open to all advice.

A couple free (or super cheap) mods I'm doing is doing the VDC mod of an inline switch with the yaw sensor power wire and knotching out my bumper to fit it back on for more rigidity.

2 weeks to go till I'm home YEAH!

So yeah I'm in the process of ordering the Hotchkis Front and Rear Adjustable Sway. I went ahead and bought collars to prevent the lateral movement issuses with the Hotchkis. I realy dont see it as an issue though some of the driver AutoX drivers I talked to said it gives another level of adjustment Adjusting the end-play in the collars makes the suspension more/less responsive depending on the gap between the collar and the bushing.

The larger the gap the more lateral movement is enduced. the less responsive turn in will be (minutely). Visa-versa. The small the gap, less lateral movement, more turn in, rides like rails. At least this is how it was explained to me. The Distance we are talking about is 10mm or less. The gap will transfer lateral energy to linear energy thus the diffrence in characteristics.

Damn I have too much time on my hands to freaggin research. looking ito the GT Spec Line of Chassis Reenforcements. I know when adding power and increased handeling that you are more suseptible to chassis torque, especialy for unibody cars with out a solid frame. Looking at the front and rear lower tie brace, mid chassis brace and maybe the rear lateral arm brace.

Yeah and I'm entertaining the idea of the Kenetix: upper adjustable A-Arm, rear camber arm and rear traction arms.

DAMN LATE TAX RETURN!!! I forgot to file for 2004 (because of my move and work), so I have 2 years of tax returns comming. I'm trying to do amazing alchemy and turn paper into metal. Lets see if it works.

I'm beginning to wonder If I have OCD. Not Obssesive Compulsive Disease, Obssesive Car Disease (spellings off and I lost caring about it). That damn new track better open up I want to see what my car feals like when I'm done.

DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT!DAMIT! DAMIT!

I'm never going to be done! HELP ME I NEED MEDICATION OR CAR PARTS!!!

I'm ordering the Front and Rear Adjustable Hotchkis Sways, SVRT Solid motor mounts and Kinetix Adjustable A-arm, and camber & traction bars with in 2 hours. Still waiting on feedback and deals for the GTSPEC reenforcements.

So I have another build session comming up since I have lightened pullies awating my arrival and soon to be suspention mods. Any one with decent mechanical abilities is more than welcome to help :cough: 636 :cough: Every one is welcome to visit. I think I may try Pearls lifts since I think you can do suspention work on them. The one on Hick you cant because they are worried you my split your skull with a rotor.

I would switch and go with the Cusco A Arms. The Kinetix are a POS and a PITA to adjust. The Cusco's cost 399.99 or less depending on the vendor and are cake to adjust. Just my .02 cents. I went with the Kinetix when I first went to A Arms and didn't even bother installing them due to how bad they are. I spent $850.00 to get the Stillens as the Cusco's were not on the market yet.

Save yourself the head ache and do it right the first time.

You read my mind. The way I work things is I make a list then research, get the right part for the job and at the best price. I always try to get the better part even if it is a little more money. If its a$$ loads more then I kinda weigh the proformance of the 2 parts and see realisticly which would fit my need better, Then go with that one. This is kinda my montra I preach about modding. So I did the same here. Since I'm adding HP and going with solid engine mounts, and no solid bumper; I was needing to reeforce the chassis. Yeah I know its over kill for the power I'm at now but its cheaper than straightning the body after a HIGH HP run in the future. Plus that damn bumper brace removal has me paraniod.

So after research and shopping I found a set of Cusco A-arms at the same price as the Kenitex A-arms. It was just concerning me the fact that it looks like you have to remove things to adjust the Ken's. The Cus is a simple Slide and lock.

Plus the Cusco look much beefier than the Kens. I did go with the Kenitex traction and camber arms though since I'm not an avad tracker and I'll probably leave the track setup I will use on the car. Put it this way I have an 04 that I just rolled 8K miles on. Travel way too much.

So the order now stands as:

Hotchkis Front/ Rear Adjustable Sway Bar------ Purchased
Cusco Adjustable A-Arm ---------------------- Awaiting Vendor Responce
Kenitex Rear Camber Arm --------------------- Purchased
Kenitex Adjustable Traction Arm -------------- Purchased
SVR Tech Solid Motor Mounts ---------------- Purchased
GTSPEC 4 Peice Chassis Reenforcement ------ Awaiting Vendor Responce
Bulletproof Reenforcement front Bar---------- Still Searching For Good Price.

I swear this time Im done for at least the next 2 months so I can pay ahead on bills. I just wanted to use up my tax return. Funny huh?

God I love being single!

I have Buddy club coilovers, Hotchkis sways, SPC rear camber/toe kit cusco strut brace and spacers on the front - will be ditches those fairly soon.

What is this Bulletproof reinforcement bar you speak of?

The Bullet proof automotive peice reenforces the opening of your engine bay infront of your engine. Adds alot of structural support and ties in the front better after you remove the front bumper.

I'm looking at getting adjustable coilovers with height adjust. Not realy to drop it but I want to corner weight the car and adjust to a back to 50/50 after the turbo install.

This is what was waiting for me Friday when I got home!

I'll wait till I get some coilovers that have adjustable height and corner weight the car before I ad the A-arms, traction bars, and camber arms.

Tomorrow I'm putting on the sway bars setting them med/ hard (F/R). and seeing how that handles.

The pullies and engine mounts are going on when ever I get to em wanna see how the TT's settle in first.

Thats what settings I have my Hotchkis' on right now. Feels pretty good, I need fatter front tires because it still has a little push under deceleration (no braking). I just ordered a Kinetix Plenum and the Apexi SAFC/VAFC Neo. Let me know what you think of that setup on the sways.

So it looks like my suspention is done way sooner than I planned. Next spring was my goal. Oh well cant pass up bargains.

EDIT: HUHUHU I SAID SPRING AND SUSPENTION!

So after a week on the new sway bars I must say...

Traction arround corners is like Fuggin superglue. Yeah I'm not on a track but I can tell a diffrence on the loop from H1 to 78 going to Aiea. I was taking it at 55mph and now I got it up to 65mph under optimal conditions.

I just tap the break to transfer weight just prior to the turn and power through it. I keep real tight to the inside and I realy can feal it sucking to the road. The little body roll that was there is all but gone now. I can feal a little when I tap the break (expected) and a little when I exit under power. The body just kinda pops back to where it needs to be instead of rolling. Its a quick transfer.

I cant wait to see what it does with the A-arms, traction arms, camber arms, and GT Spec braces.

More to come.

Been on vacation a bit tooling arround the island so I havnt been able to camp out like usual on the site. So here's an up date.

Tein Flex & EDFC will be here either today or Monday. The GT spec bracing will be here on the 19th. So the plan is get my safety done, do all the suspention, Line it up best I can, try and get it corner weighted, and then get an alignment -1.5 all arround.

The week after put all the chassis bracing on.

So yeah no dice. FedEx said the Tein Flex and EDFC were delivered today(online tracking) but they were not here in my mail room. I'll give them a call in the morning to see what the deal is.

Ohh man, not cool. When my buddy club's came in the box was soaked and UPS actually lost one of the coilovers... But the company I bought it from resent me a set and took the hit so it was all good. Good Luck man! Hope it works out better for you.
