yes they do. i believe you have had to race within the past "race" year though. if not, you need to show up for the open spots.

You need to have raced at least one event before you can pre-register.

After several hours of reading the rules I've seemed to come up with a definative answer. Most Z's with mods and NA engine work will fit into the SM2 catagory. Its the most flexable and allows one to pick and choose from almost any other catagory. That being said; there is a stipulation of Street Modified Catagory section wich in a nut shell states that if there is a stipulation that applies to a specific catagory your trying to pick and it doesnt inhibit an SM allowance then it stands.

Well the catch 22 is in the Street Prepared Catagory section 15.10.C.4 states FI cannot be added. Since there is not a stipulation in the Street Modified rules reguarding the use of FI the ban on FI for non factory FI stands with this catagory.

This leads us to the Modiefied class. The first outline right away is engine classifications. For FI the displacement is considered to be 1.4 times the calculated displacement... so a Z that runs FI is calculated at 4.88L or roughly 5.0. So thats used for all the weights and other allowences for the car. Thats the simple part. There is a **** LOAD of saftey features thats manditory (or at least highly recomended) for those who run modified. There are specific stipulations for RWD vehicles running in D and E class if on DOT tires so thats a relief from some of the rules crap.

So here's the run down. Stock Z's run BS. Modified N/A Z's are SPB. Then you have the FI guys who's defined class comes in at EM. Clear as mud? If I missed somthing let me know Im trying to understand this stuff and its my first look at the rules.

My question to you bboy is what do you have done to the car that puts you in EM? Yours falls under the stipulation of already having FI in section 15.10.C. I'll keep my nose in the book and see what it realy entails.... well between traveling and school work that is.

I should be running in BSP, but the staff that did my initial inspection thought a boost controller put me in EM (they got it mistaken with modified wastegate which puts you in EM). No worries, I like running in EM. Also, for some reason, most modded Evo's and STi's end up in EM. I'm the quickest on street tires in my class, and usually in the top 5 out of everyone on street tires. I'd love to see what would happen if I put some race tires on.

punishers car prob wont be too good for scca it would be better off as a time attack car. scca you don't want alot of power. I think 600+ z would be a pain at scca considering most guys only get up only to 3rd maybe 4th gear. probably after 350whp the z will become a pain at those low speeds.

True, thats why I was building it in the first place was for time attacks. We all know where that went.

Eventualy I will get to run it. SCCA has never realy appealed to me except the prosolo type with an actual track. I can dodge cones on the freeway .

EDIT: Sooooo seth hows she going?

So there appears to be a parallel thread about FI and auto-X over in the other forums. It looks like my break down of classes was a misinturpratation if the rules to the more strict side.

So...

BSP Stock
SM2 NA Modified and FI (dont know yet if TT is ok maybe only SC and ST)
EM If you touch your cams, bore beyond factory true specs, maybe TT (jury still out), and many many other mods too numerous to list.

BSP stock? Weird. The modded 240Z that whoops on all is in BSP (Curtis' car). Modded Evo's run in BSP.

Checked... stock 350Z's run in B Stock (BS).

LOL... it is. I'm sure that all the boosted Z's will end up in E Mod. We got a built/boosted Sentra Spec V (TN kit) and they stuck him in EM.

Tony (is still VERY confused by some of the rules)

I'd have to read it again. I'm sure it is SM, but the tech inspection here isn't as thorough as the mainland.
