Back to the OT... I don't think this was ever clarrified (but hinted at a bit)... the Z is an '07, correct?

If you ordered an aftermarket clutch, who makes it? I was under the impression there wasn't one available yet.

I dunno...But yeah 2007 and I asked him what clutch and he said its a XTD Stage ll racing.

(Sorry...I'm absolutely bored and Peter is usually on this, and I'm clueless about car parts)

Make sure he knows that he's gonna destroy that clutch if he gets it put in before getting the real problem fixed. The clutch itself isn't the reason that the pedal dropped. Make sure he reads the link I posted earlier.

Oh, BTW, the XTD clutches are horrible. They wear VERY unevenly and in a very short amount of time (like 9k miles). I'd get it returned to wherever he bought if from. I don't like seeing people get screwed by using inferior parts. Also, I read the add for that clutch... it says it fits '03-'07. that can't be true. '03-'06 and '07 (VQ35DE and VQ35HR, respectively) have completely different transmissions. The only clutch available (unless I missed something) for the VQ35HR is the stock clutch.

^ It's not the clutch that's the problem.

Christy here:

Yeah, its the slave...but the "clutch fluid" splashed onto the clutch disc thingy...making nissan replace the slave and the clutch...ugh its a ***** I'm starting to get upset with Nissan. Last time it almost took them a full month so replace it it was a day shy of a month. We called headquarters and they huslted. Nissan offered us to get a new car...but we already put so much mods in and out of the car, not worth it.

The XTD St. 2 clutch (according to them) is for stock to mildly modified cars (excess of 380-something flywheel torque). It doesn't matter though... the XTD clutch is garbage. People have reported that the wear is ridiculous... one of the pucks will look untouched while others are worn down to the metal.

Christy, Nissan is being VERY retarded about the '07 slave issue. There's a thread running in the VQ35HR section right now regarding getting the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Association) involved in FORCING Nissan to do something about it since it's a potential safety issue (here's the link). I don't think they've figured out that the restrictor seems to be part of the problem also.

Aslo, FI stands for Forced Induction (either turbos, superchargers, or nitrous).

Make sure you tell Peter to get rid of that XTD clutch. For the time being, the only option is a stock clutch for the '07 Z's.

FI = forced induction. Turbocharger / supercharger etc... won't the stock clutch easily hold whatever power you get out of the VQ short of forced induction or nitrous or a built engine?

Christy here-

O0o0oo0ohhhh! Thanks. Yeah we are getting a twin turbo when he gets back or maybe sooner. We're were projected that we're about 330 or higher. Im scared the slave will go again on the hwy or like last time parked and he wont be here and I'll be lost on what to do except call AAA lol and thats worst cause I dont know my hwys that much except H3 and hwy 93. He said the XTD clutch wont wear much because I wont drive it hard. He says I have nothing to worry about and he'll modify it when he comes back or he'll order a new clutch and parts whatever when he gets the twins and have me take it down to get it installed...

Christy here:

What Ive been told "heard" you have to get a whole new clutch and other car parts for the twins to get along with; stock wont do.

The problem with that clutch is that it's not gonna fit. Read the box... what years does it say? It MUST be specific to 2007. If not, it's not gonna work.

There's no FI available for the '07's yet, and won't be until around Feb (that's when the GReddy Twin Turbo kit is supposed to be released). Only thing available until then is nitrous from Dynotune (I think that's what they're called). It's set up for the dual intakes. There's also 2 superchargers out, but one's in Japan and the other is in Germany (or one of the surrounding countries).

What mods are on the car now?

Did he just deploy last week? A few of my friends did.

If you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay OTD for the Z? Which model is it? Which dealer? I'm still talking (or trying to convince anyways, LOL) with my wife about trading the Evo in for another Z, and I'm curious what the '07's are going for (I'd like to get a Daytona Blue Enthusiast, but they cancelled it for the '08 model year).

Yeah it says its for an '07

They make the twins but its not through Greddy...and its going for 10,000

Mods: Look at the Hawaii intro forum...we got a few more stuff this week but I dunno what they are

No, he deploys Dec 8th

ODT? We paid about 30,000 a little over cause Hawaii mark-up whatever. Its the Track model maunal 6 spd and we went to Windward Nissan where everyone bought theres well most of everyone. Don't get an '07 dont get me wrong its a good car but so many issues esp gettin mod parts and carbon fiber hoods!!! I think the 08's are ugly...I thought the Z's are first were so ugly looking like spaceships until I saw the insides and drove it, now I love it! I know I wanna trade my mazda 6 for a z but instead I'm gonna supe it up...hey its a girls car hahs...who knows maybe after he gets back I'll get a new sports car haha I dunno what I want...I love my mazda though. Good luck with convincing your wifey. I bought the Z for my husband so he can have fun with it and now I think he has TOO much fun with it. LoL

OTD=Out the door (inlcuding tax/tags and all that).

I'd still be VERY cautious with that clutch. It's an eBay special, and we all know how good those can be.

Track model? There's no Track Z for '07. If you mean Grand Touring, you got a GREAT deal on it (they're like $36-38k without Hawaii's ridiculous mark-up ********). I have a friend that works at New City... if I end up going through with this, I'll most likely buy there. If not there, I'm going to Tony, since it's 10 minutes from my house (Ewa).

I want an '07 more than any other year. Each year has had their problems (I had an '03 before my Evo, and had tranny issue, tire feathering, etc.). The '07 is BY FAR the fastest Z made (so far the fastest stock one ran a 13.2@107 in the 1/4) and looks damn good (unlike most people, I love the hood hump). There's a whole lot of potential in the HR motor as well regarding what it might be able to do with forced induction.

Who's making twins for the Z? $10k is a rip-off for just the kit. Performance Factory will custom make a twin setup for the '07 and include and HKS Fcon w/tune for around $11k.

OTD: $30,000

Haha yeah all of our parts are Ebay special...eh..if its blows it blows whatever we have hook-ups. But we have good friends that we made over there that helps us out.

Yeah, '07's are quick and everyone loves the hood! '07's can beat alot of turbo charged cars its funny, our friend has a supercharger and we can keep up pretty well with him and our other friend has an '06 and he can keep up with us and a guy with a G kinda mod keeps up with us. ---> We got like few secs faster from 0 to 60

Yeah, actually there is a Track Model for '07's. Look it up if you want. We live in Waianae so driving to Kaneohe is a *****.

$10k isn't a rip off because everyone is at that price because everything else has blown the engine...and remember this is for 2007's

2005 (or 2006) is the last model year that offered the Track model. All that's left now is Base, Enthusiast, Touring, Grand Touring, and Nismo (not inluding the Roadsters).

Driving to K-bay must SUCK just to have to go to the dealer (even though I love the drive).

Who is making twin turbos for the '07? No kit has been released yet. I'm saying $10k is a rip just for the kit itself... I know how much goes into doing it right (between $10-15k, not including if you get the engine built).

The thing that sucks about the '07 is that there's a severe lack of engine management out there, making it damn near impossible to make any kine forced induction kit (the HKS Fcon is the only management that works, but that runs several thousand dollars for the unit, install and tune... which must be done by an authorized dealer/HKS certified tuner).

there is no track model for 07. from what i remember of your car you have cloth seats so it's definately either a base or a enthusiast. do you have cruise control and audio buttons on your steering wheel? if not then it's a base.

'06 was the last year for the Track model. For '07, the NISMO Z despite being a limited edition and the most expensive variant in the Z model range has essentially taken the Track model's place as the most performance oriented Z in Nissan's lineup.
