What was the f-stop, iso, and shutter speede on the first and third pics. Like the way it flows. Did you free hand or use a tripod? Just curious because Im trying to develope my hand and doing trying to do the research and experimenting with shots. I've taken over 1000 shots this trip and slowly getting there.
Nice pictures.

I preserve all my EXIF data for situations like this.
Here's a plug-in for Firefox:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3905
Generally though, always shoot in the lowest ISO possible to minimize noise. In my case, that was ISO 200 because I have highlight tone priority on... and the lowest ISO with it on is 200. But with it off, ISO 100 is available. Obviously, you want to bump up ISO when light goes down and you want to speed up your shutter.
Those shots were between 1 to 1 1/2 second shutter speeds. The longer the shutter, the more misty it'll look, but obviously, you have to wait for the waves to hit. Yes, you'll need a tripod at these shutter speeds.
Aperture really doesn't matter, as it'll be at minimum most of time, due to the amount of light still available... though you want to shoot at f/8 or less to maximize DOF, if that's important to your shot. You can use a Neutral Density filter... I used a 3 stop filter to help cut down the light, and making the shutter time longer. Why did I use the ND filter when I just could have waited longer for the sun to go down more? I wanted the shots with more cloud detail, but that day, the clouds were not the best.

sick!! New desktop
Unless you got higher res pics?
I love these types of photos as desktops at work because it makes you remember why you're working so hard for every day. Hawaii is absolutely amazing.....I hate the midwest
