goin away bbq
as for all we know 3 of our members are getting deployed to iraq this coming month. me, joe(silkz03), kamu, jay, justin, james, and their better half are planning a goin away bbq for them. we was thinking of having it next weekend that would be either the 4th or the 5th of october. place is yet to be determined. so any input on where should we have it at is welcome and the date too also. so post up what you guys think.
No, I just mentioned it. My wife took the initiative to call Hickam reservations (449-5215) to see if the Big pavillion is available for the weekend of 4-5 Oct. They told her Sunday 5 Oct was available....its not for free. I believe its $75.00. I think the leadership should take this on, coordinate, come up with a plan for payment (collection), food, etc. Or if you guys decided to take it else where then so be it. It was just a suggestion. Hit the three J's up, they may want to do it elsewhere.
How about the parking lot of Pearlridge Zippy's (JK). Um, I'm not military so everytime I get to go on or near base, that's pretty cool. For us non-mil, I would think Aiea Loop Trail; they have BBQ areas and lots of parking (usually), I think Keehi Lagoon and Kakaako Park allow BBQ'n. However, I still think Hickam/Pearl Harvbor is Central for everyone.
I'm open for dates (?) as long as it after 1430 or on a Tues, Fri, Sat.

Let the J's chime in on the location. This BBQ is a a farwell till the next time i see you kinda deal. Lets send them off with something to remember while they are gone. Any idea from you guys on location wise?
location don't really matter to me. just as long as everybody shows up, we'll have a good time. but i do think saturday the 4'th is the best day. hickam probably has a better setup for bad weather, but haliewa has alot more parking, and i really don't know much about the rest of the island. thats my .02
4 Oct for the Big Pavillion is taken. Sunday 5 Oct is available. The little ones I believe are first come first served. But with the amount of people we have the big one is the best deal. As far entrance to post. Those withouth military ID will have to go to the front gate get a pass to enter by license, proof of insurance, registration..etc. Tell them you goin to the beach (oahuZclub beach bash). We need to provide the front gate a list of personnel that dont have military IDs, stickers etc. that will attend. One of us with military ID will have to leave our ID at the front gate so those guys on the list can come in without hassle and of course we wouldn't have to come up to the gate each time somebody comes in. thats the only issue You guys decide what and where you want to do it.

Okay lets get a date set first. Jeff make a poll on this thread please and list the two possible dates. 10/4 (sat) or 10/5 (sun) once we have that we can find a place ex. pavillion if we choose sunday. Then find out a time. After that its smooth sailing. But lets get the date set in stone first please.

Guys, this should be great for the members who are going in to harms way, what not a better way to show support... For the three who are getting deployed, let me know if I can be of any assistance what so ever, I have deployed many times so I know how hard things can be. If the women need support or an extra girl to kick it with, my wife lends her support out as well with open arms. I would definitely like to be a part of this, let me know what i need to bring... Fellas, please pm me with the details so I can assist...
How about couple this with another cruise? I know it's out of the way for a lot of people but for a good location with scenic drive to it I thought of Sandy's beach park. We meet up at Big City Diner and roll out to Sandy's furthest lot (They usually have plenty of parking away from the beach) One of us military folks could look into a tent rental from a MWR and kick it in style.
But I'm just spitballin and throwin some ideas out there...
