SOME INTERESTING NEWS I CAME ACROSS TODAY...
Not sure if onstar would count, they monitor inputs on sensors and once certain parameters have been met it activates a responce. The onstar is for aid purposes, I dont think GM monitors those. All the vehicles equiped with onstar do that, non just have that good of a brake system to trigger the call. On star is also an indipendent company that has a contract with GM, I dont think A) they log the data continualy B)GM could use the on star to void warrenty.
On a similar note, I was just in New Zealand and Austrailia, spelling may be off for those taking score; and their issues of Top Gear for Aus and NZ were comparing the Porche GT2, Skyline, and the Ford FVT (some super ford they have) and they were praising the GTR transmission. They took particular note how you can set up the Launch control and do it continiously with out fail. They were saying it worked like a dream and LOVED IT. "Launches with military percision" were the words they used. Im wondering if they got a diffrent spec tranny than the US. As for the Tranny, I still think it sucks that there is a way built into the car that will let you launch and break it voiding the warrenty.
Usualy Magazines like Top Gear tell about the market issues with the tranny's or engines when doing comparisons. When testing the HR when it first came out they talked about oil consumption and tire feathering on the earier models. Who knows, they may be getting a fat check to keep their mouths shut about it.

Back to the black box issue..............I'm reading a major automotive publication (forget which one) and they were doing a comparo on some modded cars. The GM entry is a Caddy with upgraded big brakes.
The story pans out that during brake testing they stopped so quickly in one test that an OnStar rep called them up to ask if there was a crash. So yes black boxes do exist in other cars (such as Lotus) and in GM's as well. Big Brother is looking over your shoulder..............
