***Update***
Went for Recon on Friday, and failed lol
Over the phone it sounded like I would pass, but when I went there it was a different story. Don't get me wrong, the guy was cool and all but I failed. Ok here is why, Oahu Z sticker on windshield
, my rear tires were bald ( I knew that, so not surprised), my stock seatbelts needed to be secured
(harnesses are ok, you don't need to use stock seat belts, they just need to be secured), even though I am on coil overs and I had the alignment done according to manufacture spec I didn't not have a 2 in support clearance so he said my suspension was stiff, body kit is not a recon item but you need to a stock support brace mounted with front bumper of kit ( mine did not have that), and (although after market hood is not a recon item) on the inside of my hood, where it tells you what brand my hood is, it says for off road use only, so I have to remove that tag lol. I was given a paper giving me 90 days to correct and then comeback.

^hmmm.... that stock support brace mount for the front bumper are the two black metal braces on the sides right? I just want to clarify it isn't that black foam thingy that goes in the front of the bumper (mine doesn't have that). When my Z gets here, it'll be crazy to get recon... what do you mean by 2in support clearance for the coilovers? Is that from between the fender and the tires?
where can we get an alignment around here? I'm rolling on stance GR+...
sorry for all the questions but i'm gonna have to go through all this as well!

Ya it's the two on the sides and I guess he was saying there's supposed to be one in the front, not sure what he meant by that. As far as 2in, what he did was push down on the fender And with ease it's supposed to go down atleast two inchs. As for allignment, I went to a place in pearlcity and itcost
me $90 for the allignment. Recon sucks! But many here have gotten away with no recon for years. It really depends on how often you drive your car an where you go. My z is my dd so I always get harrassed.

****update
went to court today and saved about 800 dollars. All the tint tickets were dropped with proof of illegal tint removed. One thing I found important in this experience was...... The judge stated: when given a citation for tinted windows, its only supposed be one citation despite the amount of windows you have tinted. In my case officer cited me for 3 windows being illegally tinted, when I went to court, without even showing proof of removal, the judge immediately dropped two of the three tint tickets. When I showed proof of removel the last tint ticket was dropped. Just thought I'd share that bit of info with you guys.

thought recon items were secondary offenses in hawaii... as you had to get pulled over for something first and then they could hit you for recon... not just pull you over because they think something needs recon..

Nope!!! They can you pull you over for recon, they don't need any other motives.
