punish_her. i believe i was just told at our last club meeting that there were about 500 z's registered on oahu. they are still a bit rare, but i am seeing them more and more often on the roads now. fortunately, i rarely ever see any other ragtops.
now g35s... those things are crawling all over the place.
pm me or fdao when you get in town.

Hey "Stu46" who is that hot babe on your profile ?
My wife and I are thinking about moving from Seattle to Honolulu but we are still in the process of comparing quality of life and cost of living factors. When we looked at real estate, it seems the only place we would be able to afford a house which comes anything close to our 3 bedroom house in Seattle would be somewhere around Ewa Beach, but we keep hearing that's not a good neighborhood.
What do you guys think about different area of Oahu? What's a good "middle class" neighborhood to raise a family in that not's too far a drive to work in downtown Honolulu?
Sorry if this is a bit off-topic but since people were complaining about lack of traffic here I thought I would throw this out there
Thanks for any feedback.

ewa beach... yeah, i wouldnt want to live there. too hot and the commute would not be good. a nice community with an ok commute might be like aina haina.... hawaii kai is nice, but is kinda pricey. basically, the closer you are to town, the more expensive the houses will be. mililani is where i was raised and it is a nice community, but the commute again would be pretty bad.
my friend bought a house in kent washington a few years ago for $200,000 and it was a really nice 3 bedroom, 2 story house, with a decent sized yard. about 4 years ago, my sister bought a 4 bedroom house with a big back yard in kirkland washington for $200,000 also.
hawaii on the other hand is in the middle of a sharp housing price increase. my wife and i bought our 2 bedroom condo almost 6 years ago for 285,000. right now we can sell it for roughly $450,000. you are not going to find much bargains right now... although i think the prices are slowly coming back down.
you would have to decide whether the price is more important, or the commute.
we bought our condo at the right time. it is located right in town and we got it at a decent price. it takes my wife 7-10 minutes to get to work.

Hey that's funny, because Kent is exactly where we live; not really Seattle, but about 15 miles South of Seattle. Yeah, when I visited a friend in Ewa Beach, it was beautiful, and there were wonderful houses for just about $250,000. But of course I was on vacation, I didn't have to do the commute and I know nothing about the different areas.
I guess since we plan on having several kids our only option would be to live way out of town, and that would mean either Ewa Beach or Mililani. My wife is from Hawaii Kai but likes Mililani.
We'll see. Thanks for the feedback!

i was raised in mililani, but i was living in hawaii kai for about 5 years on mariner's ridge. i love the hawaii kai community. if i ever buy a house, that would be the community that i would like to move to. it would probably have to be the older houses though, because the newer ones would be out of my price range. anyways, take it easy.
