Digital camera help
Man o man... Why don't you do your homework before spending big $?
In this kit you are gettin D70, two cheap kit lenses and bunch of useless ****. Lets see... D70 goes sub $500. Two cheap kit lenses goes sub $250 each. rest of the stuff I'm pretty sure is cheapest quality possibly... sure less than reminding $400... and I have no idea why whould you want all that stuff. Learn to use camera in simple setup and then buy what you feel you need. Wich is usually Photoshop, not physical filters
Where they got that $4000 value? Unless filters are $1000 each...
If you want to go with Nikon, get the body only, and then RESEARCH of photo phorums what lenses are good and get them. Kit lenses are made to lower price of the kit, and never performance oriented.
If you'd go with Canon, there is thread floating around with a lot of stuff in it.
Also I'd recommend to go with many smaller memory cards instead of 1 big one. Like whatever you need for 100 frames. This way if something happens to the card, say when you on the trip, you won't loose EVERYTHING you've been shooting last 2 weeks! Yes, they go bad sometimes.

And if you did get the 300D what lens would you think about buying to take those kinds of pic (the ones in your thread)? Curious...
edit: and if you want to see excellent pics taken by a number of different cameras (depending upon your search criteria), check out photosig.com

You can learn a lot and ask a lot of questions on boards such as photography-on-the.net (go to the Canon forums area). There are some rather knowledgeable guys on this forum as well.

Expect to pay somewhat more for SLR camera bodies (could be LOTS more for better SLRs) over P&Ss, but your biggest cost concerns are really going to revolve around glass. You can get the 350D for around $800+/- (with kit lens) and I think the 300D could be had for a couple hundred less than that (since it's the older version of the Rebel).

I bought my Sony DSC-F828 and alot of other stuff on Ebay. I haven't had any problems yet, but I only buy from seller with a 98%+ rating. I bought the camera last year, and saved $450 off retail. The retail price has dropped since last year, but is still $250 more than what I paid. I say go for it if it's a good price.

If you didn't buy one yet James (or any other interesting parties), the XT w/kit lens is selling for $739 before 2% DPA discount. Lowest I've seen it yet. Apply the correct codes accordingly.
