I didn't say anything about "the street", I just said carrying around, no matter where you go. On the plane, in to wilderness, on street, where ever. Point is, it's a fragile piece of equipment with a big case, IMO there are more practical equipment that you could get.

I don't know if you read it in the other thread, but Bubble isn't an amateur photographer. He has a lot of fragile equipment (a lot of Canon lenses) and I'm sure he has no problem with it. Some people enjoy photography and it does become very expensive. Some people like to mod their cars with expensive stuff that isn't the most practical. What's the big deal?

Not sure if it's 100% write off since he does wedding photography on the weekends (then again almost all weddings are on the weekend). I'm sure it'll be easier for him to get it deducted than say me, unemployed

You take the pics on a weekend and then work on them during the week.

I would sign up as a commercial photographer, not a wedding photographer. then you do weddings and anything else you want to do. You have to have something that really appears to be a business to get those tax breaks. And you have to be prepared to convince the IRS it is not a hobby.

You know....I have one snare drum that is VERY expensive (lets just say, on par with a high end lens) that Im afraid to gig with because someone may steal it, knock it over or scratch it on stage and then say either "sorry," or "rock and roll" right before my foot leaves for their knees. Seriously, the one time I did take it on a gig and had to go to the john, the drum went to the john with me. Its more of a liability than anything....considering putting it on ebay.

I know they're not nearly as good as the magazine-quality pics you showed. But you can get pics this good from a 2.1 megapixel Nikon coolpix digital

The helicopter pics are from behind a window, too

Don't settle for that cheap 500mm lens, go for the 600mm version! Buy it from dell when they have a 20% off coupon:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=A0389835

Just kidding. That really is a beautiful lens.
