Within your price range these are the best.
Canon EOS 400D
Nikon D80
Nikon D40X
These are really full manual setting only dSLR cameras, if you dont know what your doing you better off with a high end point and shoot camera. The pictures will look much better
It really doesnt matter the camera its the person behind it, a lot people think the camera will make up for there lack of skill

The shots on the NSX site are decent, but you can get the same results from a mid-priced point-and-shoot digicam. As stated above, it's all about the person behind the camera.
The Canon XTi with kit lens might not have been capable to taking some of those pics.. The kit lens is too slow so not too great in low light and rolling shots in low light would be difficult..
According to the EXIF info, this person used a Canon 10D with a lens that is capable of f/2.8.. So if you buy a 20D or 30D or even Canon XT/XTi .. it should be eqivalent or even slightly better.. I have no idea what lens he used but it looks like some of the pics were photoshopped slightly.. a Canon 17-55mm f2.8 or a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 could duplicate what he used.
Remember, it's not the camera that takes good pix.. it's the photographer

The differences between a 350D and a 400D worth the additional 200-300 dollars in price? The kit lense on the 350D and 400D sucks, so would I be better off getting a 350D with a better sigma or canon lense? The resolution doesn't matter to me. 8MP is more than enough for me.

lol at the guy with his Camera stats in his sig instead of car stats. BTW you'll LOVE the 18-200mm. Its a godsend really.
Nothing wrong with Nikon either, it is just more popular with consumers so it is automatically "better". I'd like to see that side by side comparison someone stated above. And the facts where Canon sensors are "better".
Alot of brand loyalty in DSLR camera so get use to different opinions. Go to some stores and try out as many as you can. I'd stay away from anything other than Nikon or Canon; if you really start to progress other brands may limit your upgradability.
