B&H now has it in stock. I'm picking one up as soon as I have the $$$. Again, if you haven't triad an Image Stabilized/Vibration Reduction lens, it is a godsend.
This lens uses Canon's latest 4 stop IS.

OK, Photozone has reviewed this lens, and sharpness is through the roof!
Read their review. This lens can be had for $179. Image Stabilization to boot! Focal range is great for walk around. Seems like the perfect starter lens, along with the 50mm f1.8.
I have a feeling the 55-200 IS will also be this good.
Downside? Plastic mount.

Ive been wanting to get a new lens, I have the kit lens obviously, and enjoy the inexpensive but good 50mm 1.8f, the pics come out clearer IMO over the standard lens.
