Default School a Newb: Canon S3 IS

I have a few random shots on my hosting account that I'd like some c&c on, if possible. None of the photos have been edited or retouched, just the way they came from the camera.

Any input is appreciated.

I have some stuff from a more recent shoot that I'll upload tonight. Any input is welcome, I'd really like to get more quality pictures out of this camera, but I think the problem lies with the user, actually I'm pretty sure

i used to own a s3 is before upgrading to a dslr, and it's a solid camera. have a look at my dA account at http://kzleh.deviantart.com pretty much all of the shots on there are with the s3, whereas my flickr is all from my dslr. it was awesome because it made you rely on your "eye" then relying on the equipment. best thing to do it always shoot. shoot, shoot and keep shooting, and develop your natural "photographic eye" so you know what to look for and how to frame a picture.

good luck, and if you need any help, there is more than an abundance of people on here that can help you out!

I have a Canon S3 IS myself and have been working on perfecting my skills. I bought it from MR_X who it a photography veteran on this section of the forums, back when he lived in CA. Did you take your shots with a tripod? I cannot seem to take any shots without blurring them at a stand still/ My hands are not shaky at all.

pic 2 above looks great! Minus the water puddle on the ground it appears perfect!

I had an S2 before getting an SLR.

Great starter/learning cameras!

#2 is my favorite.

Watch your reflections and light (daytime/night).

Canon does make some nice point and shoots. I don't have the one listed, mine is the A-530...it goes pretty much everywhere with me. I just picked up a Pentax K10D...photography is addictive.

The XSi looks pretty nice too.

I sometimes miss my S3 IS. The best advice I can give you is to read the stickies, practice and experiment. Don' be afraid of trying out different settings.
