Default Vehicle Camera Rigs -

Anyone have any ideas on how to get started or where to purchase a good setup. I have seen some for about $700 and up and it looks rather simple to make but for someone like me with no fabrication ability it would be difficult. I have acquired some extremely strong suction cups and using some bungie cords I have figured out how to keep the tripod and camera from coming off however low angle shots are not possible to do. So can some of you seasoned photo gurus lead me the right direction..............thanks

I need exterior shots like the one Oliver did below of my Z.

Oliver does not post anymore so I want to start to either make my own or buy one complete.

+1... i dont think i want to spend over 500 on a rig... i do it ghetto style with my tripod hanging out of the trunk or rear window (if sedan).

or... just learn how to pan and have someone drive your car.

here is a pretty good thread to get you started.

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...&highlight=rig

while the tripod out of the window can get you some nice shots, it doesn't have enough reach.

We should make a project out of it and see what we can come up with. Here is my gear is as follows: Canon EOS Rebel XTI , Canon 17-85mm, Tamron 55-200mm, Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle.

The Sigma Wide Angle kicks ****.

I saw someone that made one quite a while back out of a small lightweight tripod and three industrial suction cups zip tied multiple times to each leg.

I guess it really depends on how brave you are with that expensive camera.

well if the suction cups are strong enough i think the zip ties or 2 per leg can handle them.. you dont really need to be going fast and cant have a tripod sticking out of your car on public roads.

I bought one from these guys and use it on a lot of areas on my car to video tape my autocrosses. I have probably reached 70mph or so with it on the hood of my car with no issues.

Ok I tried the tripod out of the window shot on my daily driver and came up with the shot below. I have to do a little photoshop since it show s the window open but still looking for a complete rig that can extend to take front and low angle shots....argggg

I use the automotive rigs clamp one, I'm going to modify it to use suction cups as well.
