How about we start off with something easy,

Nature

Can be anything from nature, scenery, animals, bugs, plants, flowers, etc.

Oh, we should have some members check photo stats, to make sure they were taken on the correct date...

That is a little broad. Why not specify a certain part of nature. Like a flower, tree, cactus...

That would be great, but it would not fit my Nikon.

Then you should switch to canon because its better than nikon, and I still say summer should be the first theme

Is funny you mention the switch. I'm thinking about ditching the D70s and getting a 40D but the wife gave me the okay to get a D300.

so let set this on stone, Summer theme. Now what should the rules be and what do we win?

I think rules should be no heavy editing; no HDR's, Exif must be made available, pic must not have been taken before the contest starts, no vote fishing, must be work safe, size limit to pic, etc.

I love my 40d! But I think it should just be for fun, unless my350z wants to pay the winner 15 if they win and let them pick the next photo topic. And are we gunna start submitting Monday to be judged next weekend?

I would allow HDR. HDR done right, is actually pretty cool.
I would to keep the size to a specific size to a 800x600.
Camera data has to be able to be read, this include the picture data as well for date verification.
Any picture that is related to a summer activity will be allow. The point of the contest is to see how creative you can get with the camera.

I wouldn't mind doing it for fun

It would be nice to have a moderator that frequents this section of the forum or one of us as a moderator. That way we can keep a$$ hat out, keep picture that are not within the guide lines out and the photo contest assignment for that week as a sticky.

I though we agreed on summer theme?

What you are describing as self-portrait is wrong. You just want a picture that says something about ourselves.

No disrespect but I havent seen anyone agree to anything........the reason I chose self portrait is b/c there is and "idea" behind the photo.....unlike a "summer theme" where anyone can go out take a sunset photo....palm tree...etc......but there is no idea/feel to the image just a pretty picture

That's the challenge though, like you said anyone can wait for sunset, but to get a unique angle turns it into "art"
