How's about bees? Or light streaks? Or Strobe shots? Kidding.

The theme should be simple enough to not have to travel too far... or at all. Something available around the house.

We have weekly photo contests in our Photography section of G35Driver.

We set a few rules and vote weekly. The weekly winner chooses the topic for the next contest.

We choose very vague topics to give people room for creativity.

I think there should be a weekly photo competition too. One for auto and one for general as is done on many other forums. People put in their pictures throughout the weekdays and on saturday and sunday it's voting time. Here's an example for you guys.

They do it real nice on that forum. I was thinking about bringing that up here but it seems NIZMO beat me to it. Nice job and great idea

Here's some of their rules for guys who don't like to click the links

Rules:
1. The entered picture must be taken by YOU and not just found on the net.
2. Only one photograph per person and per weekly contest allowed
3. You may NOT change your photograph once it has been entered.
4. There are 5 days to submit your photograph, a poll will be created after five days for people to vote on. (Voting from Saturday-Sunday then new thread on Monday with results)
5. Your image must be a resolution of 800*600 or lower. If it is not, your picture will not be in the voting thread.
6. Each photographer cannot vote for their own photo, they must vote for others
7. The picture should get submitted with: the subject matter, the date, and the type of camera.
8. Levels, Curves, Colour Balance, Brightness/Contrast, Hue/Saturation, cropping, or anything else capable in the development process or with filters and common special lenses are allowed to use in Photoshop or other image editing softwares. Other adjustments and effects are not allowed to use in your picture.

 

i dont think cars should be part of the contest, because people would be more partial to the better lookin car and not necesarly the pic quality

I tried this a while back. The problem is that you get some immature a$$ hat with some f*cked up picture of something stupid and takes the thread to another directions because every other a$$ hat have to do the same.

I like photo contest. They really motivate me to go out and snap pictures. But if you really want a try, I would like to recommend the theme of Summer. Just anything summer related. I do agree that cars should not be a subject since people would be more bias toward the looks of the car than the photographers ability to take that picture.
