ok so i think im set on the D90 but i have a few questions
first on the video mode how long of videos can you take?
and second im looking for all in one package and im not quite sure what lens i need.
should i spend the extra for the 18-200mm
or will the 18-105mm work?
im not a pro just looking for something to take sweet *** pictures with.. of my kid/vacations/car ect ect..

At highest resolution, video limits is 5 minutes. At the lower resolutions, I think there is no time limit.
18-200 is worth it if you want a do-it-all lens. I think it is great for family vacations and such because you do not have to take an extra lenses.
BH Photo deal looks like a decent price.

just be warned though. i heard on video mode, you cannot use the auto-focus.
all-in-one lense = 18-200mm
nikon has a slightly faster lense, better build but it is 2x more expensive than the sigma.
i have the sigma and it's great .
1 thing u can do is buy just the d90 body and then get the 18-200 OS sigma lense (optical stabilizer is very useful)
sweet-*** pictures? it depends on the user dude. not the camera.

5 minute limit is supposed to prevent camera sensor from overheating.
350Zdj is correct about the auto-focus in video mode. The D90's video mode works more like a professional film type camera. It does not constantly auto-focus the way a consumer camcorder or the video mode on a point-and-shoot camera works.
Hope this helps! For what its worth, I have a D90 and I love it

D90 is a nice camera... its a D300.. smaller.. cheaper and does the video mode.
just get the Kit you will be fine. the 18-105 is a VR (vibration reduciton) lens and is great to get used to the camera with. If you need a zoom lens after that.. just go for a 70-300VR (about $500-550) and you're set.
also... keep in mind when you get memory cards.. if you are going to do video.. 5minutes is about 600MB so almost every gig is just about 10 minutes of time. Lower quality recording is also still limited to about 20 minutes I believe.
