if you want the live view... or for some reason its a deciding factor... look for a A350 or A300. A300 is usually about $599... and the screen actually flips up and down for easier views.
a few days ago, Walmart started clearancing these for $250-299. i couldnt find one, but people are reporting lots of them available as of a day or two ago.

not sure if this has been posted but I have been shopping around for a DSLR for my wife who has wanted one for a while now. Came across this website and it has been extremely useful!!

yeah, my walmart is sitting on a brand new Rebel XT for $360 (and no alphas). I asked about the Alphas and mentioned "ya know... there's a reason that Rebel isnt selling.. its over 3 years old.... and I wouldnt call that a clearance price.." - "yeah, we know" aight.. good luck with that.

while some people are reporting stacks of those Alphas, our walmarts never really seemed to carry them.

Just found a Sony A200 for 299.99 at Wal-Mart....also, online Wal-Mart is selling the D40 with 2 4 gig memory cards/lens for 450.00 dollars...my wife's bday is tomorrow and I have been looking at these things for a while now....From what I gather it seems that these two would be a toss up huh? She has a Minolta 35mm that she used to use...She has held both and the only thing she did not like on the Sony was the control **** was on the left side of the camera instead of the right.....however..$150 difference might have me going for the Sony anyway.....opinions???

even if they were priced equally i would take the A200 over the D40 anyday. and 2 4 gig memory cards will cost you like 8 dollars from amazon. I just got a 16 gig card for like 20 bucks.

man, I looked for a week as I passed various walmarts.. they finally got one in stock at a local store, I went down there and they had accepted a store transfer request 5 mins before I got there. The crappy part is that I had asked them the week before, they said no stock (in the camera case), but they were in the back the whole time weaksauce!

Honestly, I would be surprised if the A200 is still there. People are scouring the Walmarts for these. If its gone, that just solved your problem. if its there, why not get it? if you dont like it, its walmart. just take it back.. or pass the deal on to someone else (like me ) or ebay it and make a few bucks. I agree, the a200 is slightly lacking in a few areas, but still very capable.. and you save a mint.

^^ talked to the dude last night and he said its been sitting there for a while.....I will probably go back there today after work and pick it up...that way we have it and then take the wife out one last time to play with all of them to make sure that is the one she wants before opening it up....
