Pics look great.. #1 is perfect and the best

Like everyone elses comments the exposure is just a tad too high.. but probably very fixable if you shot in RAW..

I'm willing to bet that your subject is probably sharpest at f7-8 on that lens just like many other lenses... true that you'll prolly get less DOF but sharper subject is valid a reason to use a higher f-stop..

work more on your post processing ........your processing has to be as well tuned as your camera skills....

ex:
just so you know if your using cs3+ u are able to open jpegs as you would a raw file[more freedom in processing therefore]
