I started shooting in Jan (before that was all random shots of my friends or some night car stuff) - I did family portraits and weddings until I realized I was doing all that to fund my true passion which lies in fashion photography. So, in June of 2010 I decided to quit everything else and did only fashion work. After some serious intense portfolio building (3-4 shoots a week for 3 months) I got in with some major agencies and started shooting for their models book for professional modeling agencies (ELITE New York, DNA New York, etc).

Last month I landed a magazine gig for Dec (shooting for Jan 2011 Issue) of Music Fashion Magazine. It is being release next week and the cover came out yesterday.

Woo! That's awesome. Congrats!!! I sometimes wish I had the brass ones to quite my job and rock that full time.

 

It wasn't easy that's for sure bro - you work a lot of free gigs (and I mean A LOT) because you can even *think* of asking for paid jobs. It's highly competitive (who doesn't want to shoot beautiful models) - and extremely hard to differentiate your work with a distinct style.

I would never trade it for anything though I love my job, I work 24/7 but by choice - if I'm not in the studio then I'm editing from home. I'm planning on being in LA for a month, then NYC for another month. I need to make a decision to move to LA or NY soon and be based out of there!

 

Awesome man, not to many people have the ***** to see out their passions as you are doing. I see your pics posted on here all the time, I never comment but have always thought you were in a league of your own with the camera in your hands.
