Default MRC Motorsports: Presents BC Stroker Car..

After a long drawn out learning curve in assembling our customers Brian Crower Stroker kit, were finally done...The car started up and idles like stock, and drives perfect. We just did some minor break in miles and set the Fcon up with a boost cut at 4 psi and a rev limiter so the customer can put some miles on the motor to seat the rings, before we tune for boost. We are firm believers of running a motor for at least 500 miles before tuning and a proper break in can not be achieved on a load based dyno in 45 minutes.
Our overall goal on this car is not peak HP but for a nice TQ curve with moderate boost levels. Just driving the car down the road, it feels like it has alot of TQ ready to be unleashed with the stab of the throttle. The cams are a bit agressive sounding and the idle is a bit rough with the A/C off, so we will be bumping the idle up a bit tommorow.
Here are some pictures of the car, and keep in mind It it NOT MY CAR, NOR DID I SUGGEST OR ENCOURAGE THE PAINT JOB. The car started out LS, but with the addition of a body kit, the color was then changed to a Porsche black with custom airbrush work. Definitely not everyones cup of tea..But the owner is happy.

All of the machine work and assebly was done in house, and was a pain staking trial and error assembly, but we got it down to a science now..
Now for the mod list:

BC 86.4mm stroker kit - 8.8:1 comp
BC valves and retainers
BC springs
BC Cams
MRC street port and polish of the heads
everything gasket matched
ACL race bearings
GTM 11MM upgraded head studs
HKS head gaskets
APS Twin turbo kit Std.
2.5" exhaust
APS extreme fuel kit
HKA Fcon Vpro
Sparco milano seats and harnesses
Sparco harness bar
Koyo radiator

I probably forgot a ton of other stuff...But enough typing, here are some pics..Keep an eye out for the dyno within the next week or so.

We did some tuning today but the car kept going lean at 4500rpms. Now matter how much fuel we added, it kept going lean...We think we may have a kinked line or bad Walbro in the APS extreme kit. We stopped for today and will be looking at the issue later this week into next week. The car made 330hp at 4400 rpms and 400 TQ. Keep in mind this was at 9.5 psi and very low timing. The numbers are also straight Dyno Dynamics numbers, no correction added at all..The car is going to make some SICK power!!

Default Final Tune DONE!

We did the final tune after resolving an issue with the APS fuel systems. The final numbers on pump gas were 500whp and 500Tq at only 10 psi. The car is still equiped with the APS 2.5" exhaust and standard downpipes, as well as the stock actuators. The customer only wanted these power levels for now. He will be back next year for more boost and more power. But for now the Brian Crower Stroker kit is performing flawlessly despite being a huge learning curve for us.. For those interested, these #'s are Dyno Jet corrected numbers, fow what its worth our correction is within 5whp of the local Dyno Jet at these power levels.
Now we may Discuss

Hey Julian, looking at the first chart (you posted today), it looks like it takes to 4000rpm to get to full boost. Is that normal? I thought the twins spooled up much faster?

500 rwhp is pretty nice at that low boost setting. Nice work.

Full boost on a lower compression motor is around 3600-4200 for the APS GT2560's on their standard kit.

I bet the car is pretty smooth. Nice numbers and well setup. 500whp, with the potential for more is sexy!

what size bore did you go with? obviously smaller than 97mm (to use the hks headgaskets)...what is the overall displacement of the motor?

good work!

What type of fuel problems did you run into? And what were your solutions.

I know it might be a long shot but I seem to be running into a similar problem after I had the CJ Motorsports fuel return installed. When I approach 4k rpm it just leans out, and according to the fuel pressure gauge, I am at 51psi, then it drops down to 30psi. I have checked everything and cannot spot any leaks of any sort.

Thanks and sorry for the off topic post.

We found that the relay APS supplied "PRE WIRED" Was wired incorrectly, also the fuel hoses inside the pump assembly were broken and basically feeding fuel back into the tank. Check those 2 things, and then look at a bad Walbro or regulator.

I had the same problem(pressure drop) on my APS single kit. we remidied it by going with a SARD unit that fit in the tank. worked like a charm.

Bullitproof, your inbox is full I have a question about the sard pump? What model?

Julian, also, have you had any problems with the regulators provided with the CJ Motorsports stage 1 kits thus far?
