This motor is sleeved, unless I am mistaken. Sleeves, have gone out of style somewhat over the past 12 months or so for various reasons. However, Sharif, I'm curious to know if you think these numbers/psi could be reached on a built, unsleeved block with any kind of longevity?

Hell yea, I know people running 1300 whp on L19's , A stock bore 3.5 will take alot of abuse if built right... and Sharif's got the receip down
This amount of boost pressure would be the idle psi also for a unsleeved 3.5L, 28psi is alot of boost. Theres no need for strokers... JUST MORE BOOST!

This is the largest intercooler we have put on the Z so far, and will suppport the 1000whp+ objective. I think we are stretching the turbos a little bit, and the stock throttle body and stock intake are probably working against us....wish we could see what 35psi will do!

That IC is rated for 1750 HP so I think it will do!! Same one we use on all the 1200-1500 RWHP supras.

I went to the dynolab the other day after I got my car tuned and I bet that was a fun trip, at least there were a lot of side roads!

the main reason is that its been prooven that 90% of the builds which are in teh 550-750whp range done need sleeves IMO..... i dont know of any aftermarket rod/piston thats has broken at those powerlevels.....not even eagle rods i think

I think that is a little biased, mainly because most of the people that built to that level in the last year to year and half, built with sleeves, because no one really tried or tested the limitations without sleeves. It was simply a strong suggestion given by many shops for the extra protection. The shop that did my build didn't suggest sleeves until well into the 700 dd whp. IIRC, many shops had much more trouble with head lift than stock sleeve failure in the early years.
I think more and more folks are going to go without sleeves and a few shops will eventually find the "absolute" safe whp limits.

you are correct.... i probably didnt make it clear, i understand where the development on teh VQ was in 2006, 2007, and now 2008...and yes earlier it was even believe sleeves were a must even for 550whp. My statement was more about where the development is currently at.
