so Thom or SP, how close is this engine to an actual street-car motor, and what would a build like this run (not the RnD but if you approached it as an already made formula) money wise?

is it useable on the street... the powerband looks great to be honest, I just wondered about heat and low speed driveability (cams, turbo lag). the displacement has to help that.

I think everything that SP has on the motor are "shelf" parts. Excluding the prototype intake manifold.

Only real thing that would cause "issues" is the sleeved motor. And it isn't issues, its just that sleeved motors don't handle heat transfer as well as non-sleeved. There's no problems really at all. Just better to have upgraded cooling system with sleeved motor as a precaution. Their motor is still 3.5L.

The heads from headgames may be a little more radical than normal, but there is nothing fancy (ported, polished, bigger valves).

I know Chris has some package pricing put together. Lemme get him to toss it up.

Mine is a complete off the shelf setup capable of 1000bhp......guess it would be a stage 1 or so.

Both our cars drive like stock at low speeds. Thats partly due to the Pro-EFI too. Both cars you would never guess much of anything about them if you rolled up next to us on the street.

that is great, thanks.

really amazing what SP and some other shops have done in such a short time. Is the proEFI in the normal price range of like the Haltech or Hydra?

I drive the car all the time around to meets, home, etc.. and it drives with no issue at all. I think thats one of the reasons I enjoy this car/platform so much.

I think for a build like Tom's you'd be pleasantly surprised at the cost and capable of 1k hp reliably. If anything Tom has beat the **** out of his car LOL so I use him as a point of reference for durability

Yea the 48box is inline with the Haltech....not sure on price of the pro-efi 128 or the Hydra.

SP's site is showing $1995 for the pro-efi 48 box. Chris or Larry can chime in on if it has changed.

I like the versatility of the Pro-EFI (I have 48 box). We tuned my car 1 time in 5 pulls.....the tune hasn't been touched since.......and there is A LOT of room for more power if we want to get more aggressive (felt 550rwhp on pump and 769rwhp on 110gas was enough that day)

So you guys recommend a lower diff gear to hit full boost faster? or does it just last longer in the gears? In your opinion Tom or SP?

longer gears will make more boost and faster turbo spool.

but if u go for big turbos like the 62 built turbos or more, its normal that u see the HP will start to grow after 4000 RPM.

this lag is not from the Headers type, its only becouse of the big turbos.

Remember that in a lower numerically gear, you will hit boost faster, but you will accelerate slower. Think about it .... in 5th gear you will hit boost much faster than 2nd.... more load on the motor, right? But try pulling away from a stop light in third gear as opposed to first. The diff gear ratio affects torque multiplication. You are not making a huge difference with the gears that you are talking about but trial and error may be the only way to tell you what is best for the particular setup that you have.

haven't had anything good yet.

Ran a local jwt700 built motor with cams setup.....but that was when I was on the bone stock exhaust. still (so like 430rwhp)...we were close (like within 1.5 cars) but only went through 2 gears, now my pump gas setup is 100+rwhp more. We'll run again.

and ran a local greddy 18G on a stock motor, but it was already COLD out, so no traction. Had to hit it at low speeds in 3rd to keep from spinning. I pulled on top but we'd run out of room fast.

They'll be a lot more time and setups to compare it against this season. Wish it would just warm up already.

Congratulations, SoundPerformance... That's quite an accomplishment... especially with a 3.5L motor.

Sounds like you guys are having lots of fun...
