Default Sitting Z for couple months, no oil

So I had my Z sitting for couple months (probably 2). Before it sat, the oil was full. I finally got it together an started it up this morning, notice the oil was at the low mark on the dip stick.

i know that the DE's burned oil but I'm not sure if the HR's do. Has anyone come across an issue like this? Is there anything else that needs to be checked before driving it again?

If your car was sitting and not started, there is no way it could bun oil. Maybe you have a leak. Was there oil under the car? Your title seems to be an exaggeration of the problem.

Obviously if the car wasn't running, it wouldn't burn any oil 🙄. I was thinking while I was running it before it sat, maybe it was burning oil an I wasn't awear. I just find it odd that it had oil cause I had changed it bout 4 months before it sat for another 2 month. An now I checked an it's on low.

The car is show room clean with no leaks and low mileage. Just a weekend car. The battery was dead but nothing a quick charge couldn't handle.

HR's aren't known to burn oil like the DE's right?

You said, "Before it sat, the oil was full."...

Now you say, "I had changed it bout 4 months before it sat "...

So you haven't checked your oil in 4 + 2 months? -no mention of how many miles you put on it in the four months! Come on man, wth. Do you really think anyone here can help you with the info supplied?

If you had it done, did you check it to make sure it was topped up properly??

See what I'm sayin?... No info - NONE

I've never heard of oil burning with no combustion happening. Sounds like maybe you're just a quart low from going so long.

that about sums it up...

Maybe just throw some oil in that boss hog HR motor and keep an eye on it. If it was full when you parked it then it must have gone somewhere.

Anywho, if you haven't changed your oil in 6 months, why not change it now and monitor the consumption?

- good luck. Over and out

Better our egos than our brains.

You really want to know if your car is burning oil after sitting still for two months? Then the answer is NO.

You guys may be missing something. I've got an HR, but I've seen a fair amount of threads describing how difficult it is to check the oil level in the DE's. Maybe it's just that?

Yep, the DE is frustrating trying to check the oil and you're never 100% confident till it gets a bit dirty.

Not a problem. Each month I switch to a longer dipstick then when the oil gets changed, I go back to the OEM one and repeat.

Always full!

The 350z's dipstick's position and markings make this the most difficult car I've owned to get an accurate check of oil level in the engine.

It's even difficult replacing the dipstick!
