My car is HERE!

I was expecting my car to be here tomorrow, but I figured I'd drive by the dealer today. After all, Elizabeth isn't too far from CT. As I pull in, I see 2 Z's. One's Chrome Silver, 18 in wheels....As I get closer, I look at the options, and they match mine, and I look at the VIN, and it's MINE!
EXCITED in CT.

The vibrating shifter may be a good thing, I had always heard it's bad to rest your hand on it. Maybe that's BS but I've never gotten around to researching it.

anyway, congrats on your Z. I wish i was getting once soon. can't wait till I do.
Yeah, I know you're not supposed to rest your hand on the shifter, but it's kind of a habit. My right hand is really kind of numb right now though. Not good for the job.
Here's some pics I promised.
This is me getting delivery

Okay, okay, that's not really my house. I currently live in some dumpy apartment.
That mansion is The Boss's house. No, not Bruce. My boss. Nice eh? It's good to be king. I think he saw me out his bedroom window as I took this picture. Needless to say, I ducked my head and took off as soon as possible.
Hey JimmysZ, nice to see you on the board. I'll give you a ride sometime if you'd like. You're getting MSRP correct? I thought the pre-order program was over.

I put a deposit on a Z thats coming in mid october and is available for purchase. Its NOT a pre order from someone else (for which they cancelled), and its NOT a pre order of my own. Its a Z that is inventory sent to the dealer to be sold. When I first talked to the dealer on FRI, they said they had 6 or so Zs coming in that are already sold as pre ordered sales, AND that they had a couple of Zs also coming in that were not accounted for by any pre orders. The Z I put a deposit down for is one of those. Its simply stock coming from Nissan to the dealer to be sold.
Hey Andrew thanks for the offer on the ride... Id like to take you up on it sometime. Let me know what your schedule is like for the remainder of this week. Maybe we could meet up somewhere.
Thanks...
Jimmy
Dude, I'm on vacation for the whole week. I just gave my salesman, Bruce a ride. I'm going out tonight and tomorrow night, but I'm available in the mornings and afternoons. Send me an email, rouxeny@hotmail.com
Okay, so this thread has basically turned into "Andrew's Personal Z Diary" but as long as I have something to write, I'll put it in.
I just hit 500 miles and I have no problems to report. No rattles, squeaks or groans. I'm much more used to the stick and can pull of pretty quick shifts. I still haven't quite found the friction point and nearly stalled it today while starting uphill. Ouch.
The Bose is becoming more tolerable. I only have it on while I'm cruising down the freeway with the windows up. On city streets, the windows are down and the radio is off so that I can hear the exhaust. I've noticed that the subwoofer seems to have one setting only. When the volume is turned down, the subwoofer dominates and makes everything sound very thumpy and loose. At higher volumes, the bass falls more into line and the system sounds pretty good. It plays The Eagles - Hell Freezes Over quite well. I can hear small subtleties that I can usually only hear on my home system. When the volume is turned up, to the "Let's annoy the neighbours" setting, the radio again craps out and loses definition and tightness. Overall, I still believe that a lot of people will be disappointed.
One thing, people in CT know NOTHING about cars. At home, in LA, everybody likes cars. It's part of the culture. You see all these grannies with clear side markers and just about every civic has a grapefruit shooting exhaust. Here, very few people seem to know about the Z. I parked the car at both Yale and Quinnipiac (a local Pepperdine-ish college) and only 2 people stopped to look. Even the ricers drive by without a glance. You would think that they would realize the Z is like the second coming. The rebirth of the Japanese sports car has begun. However, the people that do notice the Z encompass every age group and background. They, however, are ALL MALE! No looks from the ladies at all. I think that the Z is still too new. I was at the beach today and some high school kid asked me if that was the new Lexus (ARGH!) I said, "No, it's the new Z" and he replied, "Oh, who makes that?" Kids these days!
More rambling later.

Nearly a year has gone by and about 13000 miles. The Z has gone with me from New Jersey to Maine, through bright sun, cold rain, but never wet snow. It's got innumerable coats of Zaino and has survived one small bumper bender. While driving, I've gotten plenty of stares, a few honks, some smiles, occasional thumbs up, and more than a few rev's. Through this site, I've meet many new people and enjoyed their company at a few Z events, with plans to go to many more. I've watched this site grow, from the days of RxO, ZISME, even exsilio (anybody remember him?) and today realized that I've become one of the top 10 posters here.
Since buying the car, I've made a few small modifications, and spent probably much more on gas. Currently, it's about $30 a tank! I own a Z watch, a Z bag, a Z hat, a Z keychain, 2 matchbox Z's, a diecast Z model and have a whole folder in my computer dedicated to Z pictures. That's of course in addition to my Z playing cards, 2 copies of Lust then Love, 3 copies of "The Run," an unopened Z preorder gift pack, my preorder Z info pack, and a Z poster. I'm sure there's more.
So, with my official Z day still a few days away, I'd just like to say it's been a great year, and yes, I still love my car.
Now, I'm going out and driving it.
