hey kevin, no trying to be rude but if you thinking bout seriously getting a gun/rifle and you live with your parents still, you should talk to them and let them know-make sure it's ok with them. wouldn't want anyone having any accidents and i recommend you buy a decent safe. i have a double combination honeywell safe. yeah i wouldnt recommend carrying a rifle around in your car. handgun would be different to me personally.. just a heads up too like adam said.
