There isn't a lot to do there... I agree with the mall and eateries in cool springs, franklin...
If you are in Cool Springs (Cool Springs Galleria is right off i-65)... it's your basic run of the mill department stores and usual mall stores... a bunch of eateries.

In Brentwood there is the Green Hills mall with a cheesecake factory and a few high end retailers in that mall like tiffany and co, coach, lucky brand,a few name designers etc.

Head north up i-65 to nashville downtown, you'll find more to do there on 2nd street and broadway. There is a hard rock cafe, baileys (like fox n hound) and a few bars, pubs, clubs.

Sometimes on the weekends, a crowd meets up at the pedestrian bridge down town... i don't know how big the scene is there any more though either... I havent been in the area in about a year and half.
Hopefully some of the other nashville natives can help you out.

There is skiing in a "short"(duration) season in Gatlinburg. however it is man made... not really anything "close" for snow skiing other than that(that I'm aware of)

I live three hours down the road in memphis and so far we didn't get snow or really a good "icing" over this year... Last year we got a couple days of ice/snow... but the weather is mild. Definitely not warm for you- you'll most likely be cold as hell if you came up now. haha. Currently this week it's in the low 40's during the day and colder at night...The weather can change in a day from high of 65 one day to high of 35 the next. so don't be surprised. Once summer comes it'll be close to 100 and humid. If you're flying out to visit in May, you will need shorts/pants and tshirts. It will be hot by then and last till about mid September.

I've spent plenty of time in nashville to know the area, etc. but i'm not 100% familiar with east of nashville.

Yep. It's really not far off!! However TN state tax on EVERYTHING you buy (besides car, house, etc) is 9.25%. That might take a little getting use to... having to remember to add 8 or 9 cents to every dollar you buy something on...

Edit the tax %.. typo.

Nashville is great. Its usually up there on the list of best places to live in america. We have a very booming entertainment industry, not to mention being the new corporate headquarters for Nissan North America.
