hey bro, i'm a noob at photography as well...i usually do daytime pics/just a hobby - nothing too serious...hardly ever do i take night shots...as far as the lense goes, i have the CANON EF 28-135mm f3.5/5.6 IS USM. It gives me great shots for a decent price. not too sure about the tri-pod since i have a 'walmart brand' lol. it's just to make sure the camera is stable - the camera does the rest of the job.

The prices differ depending on sizes and how much you need but ebay sells some in bulk for decent prices and quick shipping...I used the regular dry carbon but there is also glossy too...If I do marco's pieces I can show someone how to do it...
