Lightbulb Advise Please: Looking to move to Kansas City, MO

I am currently deployed in Afghanistan. Before my deployement started, quiet literally the day before, I graduated the University of Arkansas with a degree in Architecture.

I have been in Arkansas my entire life and I'm ready to leave. I have been looking around and have desided that I may focus my efforts to finding a job in Kansas City, MO. I have visited the city a few times and always enjoyed it. Plus, from what I understand the architecture business is doing well there.

I should be home by the middle of May at which time I will probably spend a month at home getting my affairs in order, ie working on the Z and finding a job.

I am really wanting to move down town, I have always been a fan of walkability and would like to live somewhere were I can walk most of the places I need to go or ride my bike. And if I could walk to the arena and/or the Power and Lights district would be awesome.

Most of the lofts online seem to be at the high in of my price range around 900 a month which will make it tight on an interns budget so I I am inquiring if anyone has anywhere I should look that may not be listed online and what your experiences are in the city.

Thanks,
-Michael

Congrats on your upcoming move. I grew up about an hour north of KC and, with the exception of about 8 years total, have always lived here. I enjoy living in KC a lot. It's big enough yet small enough, too.

Some of the top sports architecture firms in the WORLD are here. Between the 2 the have designed almost every baseball and football stadium int he the US and many structures around the world.

To my knowledge one or maybe both are located downtown KC and the City Market area. Only a few blocks separate the two.

Re. a search for an apartment, I don't have much advise except to use Google and maybe expand your search. A friend owned a condo in the Wall Street Towers building. Part of her ownership included 2 parking places in a parking garage BUT it was located across the street. There was a bridge connecting the 2.

My friends place was located about 2 blocks from the Sprint Center and the Power & Light District. The P&LD is about the most happening place in KC with lot's of bars and restaurants and a lot of 20 somethings congregate there. The P&LD and the Sprint Center are located across the street from each other.

PM me if I can help you more
