I was able to get approval by one of the Park managers for the use of a pavilion on June 12th.

He suggested the Triangle pavilion, which is at the intersection of Robert E. Lee Blvd and Jefferson Davis Drive.

The cars will be parked in the grassy area, facing the main road, right next to the pavilion. I have seen a lot of car meets at this pavilion, as the cars can be seen well from the road. The pavilion is covered, and has a large grill available.

As of now the only cost will be $8 per vehicle to get into the Park, if you don't already have a parking permit.

I will be supplying hamburgers, hot dogs, soda, and the other necessary utensils for cooking and eating.

Right now what I need is a list of everyone who is coming, so I can plan on the amount of drinks and food that are needed. If you plan on bringing something, let me know about that as well.

I do need to ask that everyone obeys all the laws while in the Park, as car meets have gotten out of hand in the past, but since most Z owners act mature, I am sure this won't be a problem. One more thing, no alcoholic beverages will be allowed, as its against local ordinance to have alcohol in this area of the Park.


That said, I am really looking forward to meeting the local Z people, and if you have a friend who's interested, bring them along too, just let me know.

Right now the plans are for June 12th, starting at around noon, and running until around 4pm-5pm, or until everyone leaves.

Bring a camera, as this hopefully will be a memorable event. I plan on taking lots of pics as well, and will post them after the event.

Thanks Veetec, I am working on getting everybody in for free. My plan right now is to send internet coupons or get guest passes from marriott. I'll keep you guys posted.
If not, then it will be $8 a car to get into the park.

Since Veetec and I are organizing this meet we would like you guys please to keep the speed down, no Burnouts or racing since this is a national park.
You really do not want to do that since Veetec is a Police Officer =).
Usually those Pavilions cost a lot and the only price we ask you to pay is respect because we will Plan more of this if this goes well.
I also will provide with drinks. Water, Coke, Sprite etc...

Update, the location will have to be moved to one of 3 other locations inside the park, and I am waiting on Monday to confirm which one. Two have pavilions and a parking lot, and one is a picnic area with a long stretch of road, lined with parking spaces I can block off for our event.

Everything is still on, same time, just stay tuned and Monday I will announce the exact pavilion, or area we will be using. I am just doing a little research on which will work best with a group of 30+ cars, which is what I am hoping for.

I talked with HFEC management and the best pavilion available, for a car meet, is the Hilltop pavilion.

The pavilion is located 2 miles from the East Gate, just after you make a left on to Stonewall Jackson Drive, immediately upon entering the Park. This pavilion is not in a high traffic area, like the Triangle pavilion is, but it is on top of a hill, go figure, and has a parking lot that can handle over 100 cars easily. The pavilion itself can handle a couple of hundred people as well. It normally costs over $1000 for rental, but I am being given access to this facility as a perk, so all I ask is that everyone respects the Park ordinances in return.

I am getting excited as we are less than two weeks away from the meet now, and I look forward to meeting everyone.

I am moving the time back one hour, to 1pm, as some people have requested a slightly later start, as they are sleeping in. We will run the event to about 5pm or so. After that everyone is on their own, and should take advantage of the one day pass, as there is a lot to see and a Laser Show is scheduled for 9:30pm.
