Is this a case of 'If ya can't beat 'em, join 'em' ? Or what? LOL

At any rate... my opinion is that any club started in wilmington would probably have to be a non-marque specific club sports car club. I haven't seen enough concentration in the area to warrant a Nissan exclusive club.

Stacy,

Where have you been lately? Roger was asking about you the other day. Seems like there is an interest in starting up a Z club in Wilmington again. I find it hard to believe that Wlimington area doesn't have as many Z owners as the Greenville area does. They should be able to field a Z only club too. I would love to see the Cape Fear Z Club get going again.

Every car is more than welcome. Im not goin to rule out non z or g owners bcuz now that i think about it, not everyone that drives a z or g is an enthusiast so any car is welcome. what should we call our little club?

The problem with any club is having someone in the area who wants to run one. I probably mispoke when I suggested the demand wasn't there. The reason there is no Cape Fear Z Club is that there is no one left in the area that has stepped up to the plate to bring it back to life. Neal Leeper made a valiant effort and things looked poised for the club to return to its glory days, but then family and career called and he moved back to the Greensboro area and hasn't really been heard from since on the club scene...

Anyway... I really hope something starts up, but its hard for colllege students to do it simply because it does take quite a commitment. I'm not saying it cn't be done, but it will be tough. Even the most established clubs have a hard time with it.

... btw John... I'm glad Roger is concerned about me LOL ... the truth is I have been very busy with the track events this spring. We had two back-to-back in June which I was the registrar for... plus my damn car keeps breaking!! I'm going to try to make an appearance at the next meeting for old-times sake! And to make a couple announcements about some goings-on with the other clubs...

Hopefully the weather will be OK and I can drive the Z

Take care!

I hope I don't sound like I'm trying to discourage you, on the contrary, Wilmington NEEDS something. And there is certainly no shortage of things to do or events to attend. Email or PM me and I can get you some emails to start with - but your best bet is to subscribe to as many forums as you can reasonably keep track of, and do like you did here, post that you are wanting to start a club - hopefully it will snowball and you'll get people who are willing to help out.

More power to ya, and anything we can do to help, just ask!

I just bought my first Z and the car scene in Wilmington sucks! Been here 12 years and its been terrible since I have been here. I just met a guy over the weekend who lives here that does autocross in his Z. I am sure he'd be inerested as well. Doing grad school so as Stack said time is short but I think it would def. be worth it. The port city DOES need something!
