Thumbs down Orlando - Avoid Midas at 3400 S. Orange

DO NOT GO TO THE MIDAS AT 3400 S. ORANGE, ORLANDO!

I couldn't believe the guy had the ***** to do this:

I called Midas to find out how much it would be to remove the resonator from my exhaust, the guy hadn't done it before with the Z so wanted to see the car before he gave me a price. Fair enough.

So I show up and the guy takes all my info, takes my keys, and walks off into the mechanic's area. I sit down and wait a few mins, waiting for my estimate.

A few min pass and I notice the guy getting into a truck. He seems to be moving it. Yeah, he's moving it up to the front of the parking lot... wait he's pulling it all the way up to the exit. That's odd. Hold on now, he just drove off! He just freaking drove off as I'm sitting in the lobby waiting for an estimate.

Hmmm, maybe one of the other people will be giving me the estimate. I walk back to what has to be the filthiest mechanic I have ever seen, the one with my keys, the one that will be getting into my just detailed Z, and ask him, "Um, the guy that I thought was going to give me an estimate just got in his truck and drove off. Who's going to give me the estimate?" The world's filthiest mechanic replies, "Him," meaning the now departed "manager."

I'm a little dumbfounded at this point, surely he will be right back. Surely he has just moved that truck to the next door parking lot, right? Right?

So I ask Pig Pen, "Do you know where he went?" His reply, "Lunch."

You have to be f**king kidding me! Did this a**hole expect me to sit there while he ate lunch? He looked me right in the eye as he walked outside, not saying a word, and got into his truck. He could have said, "Oh, this will take a while. Go get some lunch or something and I'll call you with the estimate." But I guess that would have been too much effort.

What the hell ever happened to customer service.

P.S. I went to another Midas shop in Orange City (928 S. VOLUSIA (US 1792)) and they were wonderful. Customer service was leaps and bounds above the 3400 S. Orange store. I'll start a new thread about what I think of the removal of the resonator...

Your first mistake was taking the car to be serviced by pigs.

Never ever go to Midas, Tire Kingdom, Big 10 Tires or any place like that. The only place i would take my car to get serviced for tires/wheels is Discount Tire on John Young and Sand Lake Rd. Great group of people(with tires, wheels and balancing ONLY), clean place, and they don't "test" drive your car. But i understand it is difficult nowadays to find somebody to service your car.

Anyone else in Orlando care to chime in for reputable service shops?

Well, I wasn't going for tires. I was going for exhaust work but yeah. It's pretty much hit or miss with those places.
