it would be less hp because you lose more hp at the crank in a 5AT then a 6MT but the shifts would be faster so in a race the 5AT might win.

No they are different setups. The APS kit, either single or twin turbo, will have more "area under the curve". The APS single should have full boost around 3500 rpm and be able to hold that to redline. The Centrifugal superchargers make boost according to RPM, belt driven, so it makes full boost at max RPM. So lets say at 4000 rpm, an APS kit would have 8psi, whereas the Vortech might only have 3psi. So at that point of the HP and TQ curves of the APS would be much higher. If both systems maxed out at 8psi at the intake manifold and had the same intake air temperature at the manifold, they would ultimately make the same "peak" hp numbers but the lower rpm points would give the edge to whatever had more airflow at each point, ie. the APS single turbo.

With CJ's car and the linear build up of boost we can say it works very well for traction in the lower gears. He may not have traction in the lower gears if he made more power in the mid range. I have always been one that feels you want to make as much boost as possible as soon as possible. My twin turbo camaro only made 550rwhp at 11psi, BUT with my exhaust and non existence of backpressure I was able to make 11psi at 2500rpm's and carry full boost to 6500rpm. My boost controller was my right foot and if I wanted to make 5psi, i could modulate that with the gas pedal. You can't do that with a supercharger. I hope that makes some sense.
