We just finally got confirmation on several of our sponsors. The exact details of their contributions and presence are being finalized. We *think* we are going to have several sponsors on site this year, including possibly one BIG sponsor we hope to announce soon.

Certainly, you can still get together with friends and drive the mountain roads. They are public afterall. And there are a wide variety of 'other activities' you can pursue offsite and through FVR to keep yourself entertained. So, you won't necessarily be bored if you don't register.
However....
5 - And this is the most important point I can make... ZDayZ exists and happens because of the support of Z-clubs AND ZDayZ attendees. By registering for the event, you are supporting the event. If we start having people just show up and not register, we cannot plan or run ZDayZ effectively. And, I can assure you, when this happens, the joke I made above to Jyoder7 about there not being a ZDayZ next year becomes a reality. ZDayZ is run as close to a $0 balance budget as possible. That means all the money we make at the event we try to put back into it. It also means we really heavily on accurate budget estimates and meeting those estimates. Attending, but not registering, can really throw us off in that regard and in doing so, put the event into the red very quickly. Our policy behind the scenes has always been that we don't look to make a huge profit off this event (we do it because we love the Z community), but we're not going to do it at loss either. When the later happens, we simply will stop doing the event.

Also, be on the look out for people offering extra room in their rooms/cabins. Hell if nothing else Kevin, if my cabin isn't slammed, you can crash there. You might have to pack an air mattress.
I keep a lookout for these things and will post when someone mentions a cancellation or having extra room......
We will be posting hotel overflow information soon too BTW..........
Usually you can find somewhere to crash.....

Last year I booked late and there was no room at Fontana. I booked a room at www.tuskeegeemotel.com, which is about 10 minutes away. About a month before the event, I was able to get a rustic cabin from someone that couldn't go, so the guy called Fontana and gave them my name, then I called and they transferred the cabin. I then cancelled my room at Tuskeegee.

Talked to Fontana Village today. The reports of no availability are only partly correct. They have availability, but it's spotty. In some cases, they have single night availability (Friday or Saturday night, but not both). There are a few of the basic cabins (no linen service / no AC) still available. And one of the two house boats is still available (wondering who rented the other). That may be a good way to go if you have a group of 4 or more to split the cost. Other than that, they seem to be full.
A list of alternate lodging options is now up at the ZDayZ website, as well as some local dining options, and other things to do if you intend to arrive early or leave a few days later.
Expect a BIG announcement about ZDayZ by the end of the week. For the 2 or 3 who know what it is, keep ya big traps shut a few more days until we make it all official like.
